Dwight Howard Will Reportedly Participate In Slam Dunk Contest

2 Min Read

Dwight Howard is having a resurgence of sorts in Los Angeles. After a few rough seasons in the league, suffering damage to his playing career and reputation, Dwight was given one final chance to prove he belonged.

He hasn’t wasted it so far, playing his role with energy, humility, and great efficiency.

And, apparently, the return of Superman is imminent as well. According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Dwight will participate in this year’s Slam Dunk contest after an 11-year absence.

Of course, (as Shams reported) the Lakers plan to exercise caution when it comes to Howard and his participation in this year’s festivities. The star big man has had a history of injuries and they want to prevent him from having another one, especially with their weakened frontcourt.

As far as expectations for his performance, Dwight put on a show last time and is expected to be one of the most anticipated participants of the event. Still, at 34-years-old, it’s tough to say that we should expect to see a repeat from his performance over 10 years ago. But consider all that Dwight has been through to even get here, one has to think that even a semblance of his old “Superman” routine would be enough to win over many hearts.
