Popular music artist Drake and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander appear to be close friends, primarily owing to their Canadian connection. In July, the artist reportedly appeared on stage with a tattoo of Gilgeous-Alexander in his Oklahoma City Thunder jersey on his arm, effectively covering up an older tattoo of LeBron James.
When asked by GQ’s Yang-Yi Goh to share his thoughts on the tattoo, the Thunder star replied, “I understand why it might seem crazy that Drake tattooed me on his arm. But to me, that’s just the homie.”
Goh further asked whether the tattoo was symbolic in any way. However, Gilgeous-Alexander replied, “Yeah, I don’t know about all that. I don’t ask questions.”
The reigning MVP’s performance in the regular season and his achievements in the playoffs certainly garners a reaction of this nature from a superfan like Drake, who is otherwise known to be a die-hard supporter of the Toronto Raptors.
But it was evident from the 27-year-old’s response that he was straying from giving a detailed account of what could have been a drawn-out conversation.
While it would be easy to pass off as a coincidence, it is equally challenging to overlook the artist’s obvious slight, given the alleged feud between LeBron James and Drake. In this regard, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander seems to have taken on the role of a bystander, opting not to fan the flames further.
Is The Beef Between LeBron James And Drake Over?
The feud between LeBron James and Drake was an intriguing offseason storyline. The two seemed to be close before the artist’s beef with Kendrick Lamar, following which the Los Angeles Lakers superstar seems to have put some distance between them.
The exchanges with Kendrick Lamar caused several rumors to spread about Drake, raising suspicions about the artist’s activities. In light of this, James’ reaction to dancing to Lamar’s diss tracks seemed to garner a negative response from the Canadian rapper.
Although the early segment of Drake’s feud with James involved unfollowing the Lakers star on social media platforms, it was quickly followed by what many fans interpreted as a verse in his popular song, “Fighting Irish”, aimed at dissing James.
Since then, James has been spotted at several events dancing to Kendrick Lamar’s popular track, “Not Like Us”, although some fans have claimed that the Lakers forward was also seen dancing to Drake tracks. At this point, however, James seems to have severed ties with the artist.
Aside from James, however, Drake reportedly seems to be involved in an ongoing feud with Sacramento Kings forward DeMar DeRozan, too. With some exchanges between the former Toronto Raptors star and the rapper, it would seem that the artist continues to find himself in confrontational settings.
