Bronny James scored his first NBA points tonight as the Los Angeles Lakers fell to a 134-110 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Bronny sunk a mid-range late in the fourth quarter to earn his points in the blowout loss but it marked a huge personal achievement for him and his father, teammate LeBron James

LeBron reacted to Bronny handling the pressure and sinking his first NBA shot in his hometown of Cleveland.

“He’s better than I would have been in that situation. 20,000 fans screaming my name, checking into the game, if the roles were reversed I don’t know if I would have been able to handle it.”

“I commend him on his composure and how he approaches, not only the game but life in general. To see him get his first NBA basket in this arena where he grew up not too far away from here, that’s an unbelievable moment for him, for our family, and is very cool to be a part of.”

Bronny shared his thoughts on his performance tonight and the reception he received from the Cavaliers fans in the post-game media conference as well.

“It was insane, much more than I anticipated for sure. It was insane, a nice moment. The chants really got me. I was straight-faced but I felt it and it felt good, especially coming from here. It was a special moment for sure.”

Bronny ended the night with two points, two assists, and one steal on 1-2 shooting, primarily playing during garbage time. LeBron led the team in scoring with 26 points, six rebounds, and three assists in a decent showing but one which wasn’t enough to seal the win for the franchise as well.

The Cleveland Cavaliers spoiled the personal James family achievement by picking up a convincing and one-sided win to improve their season record to 5-0. Three players scored over 20 points as Evan Mobley (25 PTS, 5 REB), Donovan Mitchell (24 PTS, 7 AST), and Jarrett Allen (20 PTS, 17 REB) were too much for the Lakers to stop, especially with Darius Garland dropping 10 dimes in the win.

The Lakers were led by LeBron’s effort, with Anthony Davis having his first average game of the season with 22 points and 13 rebounds. The Lakers’ recently well-performing starters like Rui Hachimura (8 PTS) and Austin Reaves (7 pts) had minimal impact on the game. Dalton Knecht had another solid game with 18 points.

The Lakers’ 3-0 start to the season isn’t looking as impressive now that they’ve been afflicted with back-to-back losses. The franchise has had a tough bunch of fixtures to open the season, so they’re still doing well overall. However, with a weaker schedule on the horizon, they will hope for success with their first home stand of the season.
