Jimmy Butler, the Miami Heat star, recently shared his dream “Starting 5” cast of NBA players during the red carpet event for Netflix’s upcoming NBA docuseries “Starting 5.” Butler, known for his candid personality, provided a mix of both legends and former teammates, offering insight into why each selection was meaningful to him. His choices were both nostalgic and unique, with a few surprising inclusions.

“Personally, I think Kirk Hinrich is just a country individual. And y’all really like to see what Kirk is doing behind closed doors, besides shotgunning beers. You’ve gotta say Mike because Mike’s always got something.”

“I’m curious about Joel Embiid’s life I want to know more about JoJo now that he’s a father and he just signed an extension. You’ve gotta pick DeMar. Look at him. Just LA from head to toe. I haven’t seen a player wear Louboutins in like 10 years, and he’s still got it.”

“I’ma tell you somebody that’s super interesting, he’s the godfather of Rylee Butler, my daughter. Kyle Lowry I think y’all would be very, very impressed with who Kyle is as a person. I just don’t want to see him play golf all day, but take the golf out, and he’s dope.”

The first name on Butler’s list was his former Chicago Bulls teammate, Kirk Hinrich. Known for his grit and determination, Hinrich might not be the first name that comes to mind for many, but Butler highlighted the guard’s down-to-earth personality. It’s clear that Butler appreciates Hinrich’s grounded nature and thinks fans would enjoy getting a peek into his more personal life.

Unsurprisingly, Butler’s second pick was none other than the iconic Michael Jordan. Jordan, a six-time NBA champion and the greatest of all time in many fans’ eyes, was an obvious choice for Butler. For Butler, Jordan’s mystique and larger-than-life presence make him a must-have in any NBA-related project, especially when it comes to revealing more about his off-the-court life.

Butler’s third pick was Joel Embiid, his former Philadelphia 76ers teammate. While the two played together for only a short time, their connection was evident. He expressed a desire to know more about Embiid now that he’s a father and fresh off signing a contract extension. Butler’s curiosity about Embiid’s life off the court highlights the close relationship they shared.

DeMar DeRozan, a Sacramento Kings star and another former teammate of Butler’s, made the list as well. Butler couldn’t help but admire DeRozan’s unique fashion sense, describing him as ‘LA from head to toe.’

Lastly, Butler selected his former Miami Heat teammate, Kyle Lowry. Butler and Lowry have developed a deep bond both on and off the court, with Butler even revealing that Lowry is the godfather to his daughter, Rylee. However, he humorously added that he wouldn’t want to watch Lowry play golf all day, showcasing their playful dynamic.

In his dream cast, Butler includes a mix of personalities and close connections, offering fans an authentic look into the relationships and respect he holds for these individuals.
