Team USA completed the mission of winning a Gold medal at the Paris Olympics in style, winning every game from exhibitions to Olympic play. Unfortunately for Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and Anthony Edwards, the trio couldn’t properly celebrate after the Gold medal win as they had to take a drug test. Edwards revealed the same at the Fanatics Fest while speaking to Jalen Rose alongside Kevin Durant.

“I’m not gonna lie, me and him had a drug test. We couldn’t celebrate in the locker room for real because him, me, and Steph had to go take a drug test or something.”

Drug tests in the sports world can be game-changing, so it’s best to proceed with maximum caution whenever an athlete is called for one. The NBA has had a small history of players getting popped for banned substances, but it isn’t as commonplace as other Olympic sports. Nonetheless, the IOC and WADA take drug testing seriously so it’s best the players kept their bloodstream all natural until the test was done.

All three played crucial roles in Team USA’s Olympic success. Curry led the team in scoring with 14.8 points per game, going nuclear in the semi-final and final to lead the team to the Gold. Durant averaged 13.8 points and was the team’s featured sixth man until the Final where he was promoted to the starting lineup.

Edwards averaged 12.8 points in a smaller role than he led many to believe he’d have. But the 22-year-old was a crucial bench scorer and showed he’d be a Team USA option for a long time.

Anthony Edwards Calls The 2024 Olympics The Greatest Time Of His Life

Anthony Edwards completed his leap into superstardom last season by leading the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Western Conference Finals and then dominating with Team USA at the Olympics. Edwards was a valued member of the squad, being mentored by veterans like Curry, Durant, and LeBron James.

He reflects on the Olympics by calling it arguably the greatest time of his life.

“Steph was No. 4, I was No. 5, ‘Bron was No. 6, and he (KD) was No. 7. When Steph name gets called, they go crazy. When my name is called, they’re like ‘ehhh.’ Bron name is called and they go crazy, and then his (KD) name is called and they go crazy. Me just being in the middle of them, I think that was the greatest time of my life. My brother took a picture of that and we’re like that’s the dopest picture we could have.”

Edwards built strong bonds with all three legends, with Durant in particular becoming very good friends with Edwards. The pair have been talking highly about each other in media interviews, with Ant calling Durant his favorite player for the last few years. They battled in the Playoffs where the Wolves swept Durant’s Suns, but their bond is as strong as ever.

Edwards and the Wolves will open the 2024-25 season against the Lakers on opening night, as the 22-year-old star faces Team USA teammates LeBron and Anthony Davis.
