In the aftermath of a series-determining win in Game 3 on Wednesday, Celtics swingman Jaylen Brown opened up on his team’s mindset going into Game 4. Even in the face of victory, Brown encouraged his teammates to stay even-keel and focused on the mission at hand.

“Stay in the moment,” said Brown. “Just appreciate everything, I’m grateful to be here. All praise to the most high, just stay in the moment.”

Brown, 27, and Tatum (a 4x NBA All-Star) combined to score 61 points in the win and are proving to the world why they deserve the title as the best duo in basketball right now. Besides making key defensive plays all night, Brown was key down the stretch and very efficient with 30 points on 54% shooting. Tatum had 31 and 6 rebounds in 41 minutes.

And while the job is not yet finished, the Celtics are now just one win away from the title and they can sense the moment. After the game, 26-year-old Jayson Tatum also had some words to say and he didn’t hold back on speaking his mind.

“Early in your career, you get all the points and the stats… but then they say, ‘you haven’t won’. Now you’re in a position to win a championship and now you’re not scoring enough.’”

While the Celtics are being careful not to get too caught up in this win, we all know what it means for this series. Over the course of NBA history, no team has come back from a 3-0 deficit and I don’t believe that streak will be broken by a Mavericks that looks completely exhausted and outmatched.

At this point, it’s not a matter of “if” the Celtics win, but in how many games. If they close the deal on Friday and complete the 4-0 sweep, it won’t even give the Mavericks a chance to come back and it will dispel any myths about the Cs folding under pressure.

As it currently stands, 6’6″ swingman Jaylen Brown may be the front-runner for Finals MVP with his efforts in the series, including a scoring average of 24.3 points per game. But from the fans’ perspective, the series hasn’t been particularly notable so far thanks to the Mavericks not really showing up.

NBA Fans Call 2024 Finals The Worst In Modern NBA History

This year is hardly the first time that a series has been so lopsided. Back in 2018, the Warriors swept the Cavaliers in the Finals, and half of the games weren’t even close. This year is looking like a similar situation, except there’s no LeBron James or Stephen Curry to make it more exciting.

On social media, many fans ripped into the series and expressed disappointment over how it’s played out so far.

Fans were nostalgic for some of the more competitive series in the past, including the one just two years ago between the Warriors and Celtics.

This series has great potential with stars such as Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Luka Doncic, and former NBA champion Kyrie Irving, but the Mavericks just have no answer to the Celtics’ depth and it’s been their undoing over the last three losses.

The series is not quite over yet and it could come with some more action if the Mavericks wake up and are able to force a Game 5. Even so, the uphill climb is very steep and the Celtics are just too good to blow this opportunity to win the title.

Tonight, Tatum, Brown, and the Celtics will regroup and refocus their energy for the close-out game later this week and after six years together, this group is finally on the verge of making history as champions. Now is not the time to slow down.
