Toward the end of Game 3 between the Dallas Mavericks and the Minnesota Timberwolves, Luka Doncic was seen heading toward Anthony Edwards. Doncic had something to say to Edwards and while doing so, the 25-year-old ended up recreating that famous scene from ‘Hustle,’ where Kermit Wilts (Edwards) was talking trash to Bo Cruz (Juancho Hernangomez).

Here is the video of Doncic approaching Edwards and speaking to him.

Doncic had no interest in revealing what he said and there was probably some foul language used there. As for that scene in the movie, Wilts was talking about Cruz’s daughter, but I doubt Doncic was doing anything of that sort here.

This isn’t the first time that we have seen Doncic interacting with an opponent in this manner, of course. The Slovenian famously taunted Devin Booker in Game 7 of the 2022 Western Conference Semifinals and there was another instance of him talking to James Harden in their first-round series earlier in these playoffs.

The Timberwolves might as well book their flights to Cancun at this point. The Mavericks beat them 116-107 to take a 3-0 lead in the Western Conference Finals and I don’t see them making a comeback from here.

Doncic had 33 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 steals, and 1 block in Game 3. The Timberwolves continue to have no answer whatsoever for the five-time All-Star. Doncic has just dominated against a defense that had looked ever so good in the first two rounds of these playoffs.

Edwards, meanwhile, finished with 26 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists, and 2 steals. It was by far the best game of the series for the two-time All-Star but it wasn’t good enough to get the win. Edwards was anonymous for much of the fourth quarter too and the Timberwolves can’t beat the Mavericks when that happens.

Luka Doncic Revealed The Advice Kyrie Irving Gave Him At The End Of Game 3

When Doncic wasn’t talking to Edwards at the end of the game, he was interacting with his teammate Kyrie Irving. During his postgame press conference, Doncic shared the advice that Irving gave him.

“Just right now when we were winning by 9, last possession, I told him I’m tired as sh*t. He told me that’s the way it’s supposed to be. He brought a calmness to the team, to me, a maturity and he’s been an unbelievable guy on our team. Learning from him every day, positive energy always. Just a blast having him on our team.”

There was talk when the Mavericks traded for Irving that it might be the beginning of the end for Doncic in Dallas. Kyrie had caused problems at his previous pit stops and acquiring him was seen as a massive gamble. Fortunately, not only has Irving been a model citizen, but he has been a great leader for Doncic and the rest of the team as well.

The Mavericks are now just one win away from getting to the NBA Finals and it’s safe to say not many would have seen this coming after they failed to make the playoffs last year. Things were not looking great in the first half of this season either, as Dallas was just 26-23 at one point.

Smart trades for P.J. Washington and Daniel Gafford at the trade deadline helped turn things around, as did Irving’s return from injury. The only question now is whether the Mavericks can go all the way and win it all.
