After a rather forgetful Freshman campaign at USC where he only averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game on 36.6% shooting, Bronny James will be joining the NCAA transfer portal. To make it even more interesting, Bronny has also declared for the 2024 NBA Draft.

It seems the young prospect is keeping his options very open to see what the best deal is on the table and seven NBA teams would be best for him based on the upcoming 2024 Mock Draft. It also seems almost certain that Bronny will only be a second-round draft pick.

Los Angeles Lakers

Bronny James - Los Angeles Lakers

Projected Pick: No. 55 Overall (Second Round)

If the Los Angeles Lakers manage to use their second-round pick in the 2024 NBA Draft (from the Clippers), the most compelling and potentially transformative choice they could make would be to draft Bronny James. LeBron James, the Lakers’ cornerstone even at 39 years old, has openly expressed his desire to share the court with his son. Drafting Bronny would not only fulfill this heartfelt wish but also ensure that LeBron remains in Los Angeles until his retirement.

Meanwhile, Bronny would benefit immensely from learning the intricacies of the game first-hand from his father. LeBron’s basketball IQ, leadership qualities, and unparalleled work ethic would serve as invaluable assets in Bronny’s journey toward becoming an NBA-caliber player. Furthermore, the narrative of LeBron and Bronny playing together would create constant headlines in Los Angeles and there might not be a more interesting story for the Purple and Gold.

Orlando Magic

Bronny James - Orlando Magic

Projected Pick: No. 50 Overall (Second Round)

The Orlando Magic, once amid a rebuilding phase, have shown significant improvement this season, currently vying for a playoff spot. After a challenging campaign where they managed only 34 wins, the Magic’s resurgence can be attributed to their promising young core. Players like Franz Wagner, Jonathan Isaac, and All-Star Paolo Banchero have demonstrated considerable growth and potential under the guidance of head coach Jamahl Mosley as they have won 45 games so far.

In this context, adding Bronny James with the projected No. 50 overall pick could be a strategic and exciting move for the Magic. Bronny would benefit from joining a youthful and dynamic team environment where his development could be nurtured alongside fellow rising stars. He would also provide valuable depth behind standout youngster Jalen Suggs, complementing the team’s backcourt rotation and adding versatility to their lineup.

San Antonio Spurs

Bronny James - San Antonio Spurs

Projected Pick: No. 46 Overall (Second Round)

The San Antonio Spurs, renowned for their culture of excellence and player development, already boast a promising young core highlighted by Rookie of the Year favorite Victor Wembanyama, along with talents like Jeremy Sochan and Devin Vassell. With the projected No. 46 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, the Spurs could further bolster their roster by adding a versatile shooter like Bronny James.

Bronny’s potential fit with the Spurs is intriguing for several reasons. His shooting ability would complement the Spurs’ offensive system, which traditionally values ball movement, spacing, and high-percentage shots. Additionally, joining a team with a strong emphasis on player development would provide Bronny with an ideal environment to refine his skills and grow as a player under the tutelage of one of the greatest coaches in NBA history, Gregg Popovich. It could be very interesting to see Bronny in the Spurs system as that could aid his development best.

Memphis Grizzlies

Bronny James - Memphis Grizzlies

Projected Pick: No. 37 Overall (Second Round)

The Memphis Grizzlies, with their up-tempo style of play and young, dynamic roster, could benefit from adding backcourt depth in the upcoming draft. While Ja Morant and Desmond Bane have been exceptional, the Grizzlies’ backcourt could use additional support to maintain their high-octane pace and competitive edge. Bronny James, with his versatility and scoring ability, could be a surprising yet intriguing choice for the Grizzlies with the No. 37 overall pick in the second round.

His athleticism and basketball IQ would allow him to seamlessly integrate into Memphis’ fast-paced system, running the floor alongside a talented and youthful lineup. Moreover, Bronny would have the opportunity to learn from defensive stalwarts like Jaren Jackson Jr. and Marcus Smart. Jackson’s shot-blocking prowess and Smart’s tenacious on-ball defense could help Bronny improve his defensive skills and become a more well-rounded player.

New York Knicks

Bronny James - New York Knicks

Projected Pick: No. 45 Overall (Second Round)

The New York Knicks, a storied franchise that thrives in the spotlight of Madison Square Garden, could be an intriguing destination for Bronny James. Playing in a big market like New York often brings out the best in young players, and Bronny’s potential to excel under the bright lights of Broadway could be a compelling narrative.

With the projected No. 45 overall pick in the second round, the Knicks could seize the opportunity to inject youth and talent into their roster by selecting Bronny. His versatility, scoring ability, and basketball pedigree would make him an exciting addition to a team looking to build for the future while also competing in the present.

Furthermore, the tantalizing prospect of LeBron James potentially joining the Knicks adds another layer of intrigue to this scenario. If LeBron opts into his $51,415,938 player option and subsequently reaches a free agency agreement to play alongside his son, Bronny, it would create a star-studded lineup that includes the likes of Jalen Brunson, Julius Randle, OG Anunoby, LeBron, and Bronny. Madison Square Garden would undoubtedly be buzzing with excitement and anticipation.

Phoenix Suns

Bronny James - Phoenix Suns

Projected Pick: No. 59 Overall (Second Round)

The Phoenix Suns, with aspirations of winning an NBA title, find themselves in a unique position heading into the 2024 NBA Draft. With a core led by superstars Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal, the Suns’ immediate focus should be on bolstering their depth, particularly in the areas of shooting and athleticism. Given that their future looks very bleak and their lack of control of first-round picks until 2031, the Suns will need to be strategic and opportunistic with their selections in the second round.

The projected No. 59 overall pick presents an opportunity for Phoenix to take a calculated gamble on a high-upside prospect like Bronny James. Bronny’s potential as a shooter and his athleticism would fit well within the Suns’ system, which prioritizes ball movement, spacing, and player versatility. Additionally, the low-risk nature of a second-round pick allows the Suns to take a chance on Bronny without jeopardizing their long-term plans or cap flexibility.

Sacramento Kings

Bronny James - Sacramento Kings

Projected Pick: No. 49 Overall (Second Round)

The Sacramento Kings find themselves in a pivotal juncture as they navigate the challenges of the 2024 NBA Draft. With the projected No. 49 overall pick in the second round, the Kings have an opportunity to take a calculated gamble on a young prospect who could inject new life into their roster. Currently fighting to stay out of a play-in seed with the Lakers, the Kings’ postseason aspirations are hanging in the balance.

If they fail to make a significant impact in the playoffs, similar to their early exit last year, the Kings could be motivated to revamp their roster and explore new avenues for improvement. Bronny James presents an intriguing option for the Kings. His potential as a versatile playmaker and scorer could mesh well with the Kings’ up-tempo style of play and provide them with much-needed depth and athleticism. Additionally, the tantalizing possibility of Bronny attracting LeBron James to Sacramento adds an extra layer of excitement and potential star power to the equation.
