The 2024 All-Star Game has wrapped up with the East shattering the 200-point barrier to put up 211 points to beat the stacked Western Conference. Nobody can claim this game as an achievement as it was extremely low-effort and failed to entertain the crowd. As a result, fans took to social media to express their displeasure and what transpired.
One fan called the event a ‘disgraceful farce’ and said none of the players or coaches had any pride for their extremely low-effort showing.
If you’re not personally offended but this disgraceful farce taking place right now in Indy, you don’t love or understand basketball, These “All-Stars” should be censured. And where are the coaches? Have any of them have any pride? They’re all acting like athletic court jesters.

Some fans have realized that these problems can’t be fixed until players just try harder.

Even Oscar Robertson was seen fuming at the action on the court.

Some fans pointed out that the NBA schedule is so packed with events all the time that the All-Star game simply doesn’t feel special and doesn’t motivate the players.
All joking aside. The NBA has an issue with events. The season is too long, regular season games don't feel special. And on the one night where they can showcase the actual product to casual fans/general public, this is what gets delivered. It's not great, Bob.

Bill Simmons pointed out that the discourse over who is an All-Star and who is not is pointless because the game itself always disappoints.
It’s funny that we spend so much time on All Star Starters/Subs/Snubs and then the game always sucks ass.

Some fans even called this the worst All-Star game they’ve ever seen.
this the worst all star game i ever seen

More fans criticized the game but kept it real that they’d tune in again next year for a similar product.
100%, unfiltered, pure hot ass of a game
And we'll be tuning in again next year without fail

The Eastern Conference was led by All-Star Game MVP Damian Lillard‘s 39 points, with Jaylen Brown adding 36 points and Tyrese Haliburton scoring 32. Jayson Tatum put up 20 points while captain Giannis Antetokounmpo put up 23 in another win for him as All-Star captain.
The Western Conference saw Karl-Anthony Towns score 50 points with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander being the only other play to try and ending up with 31 points. Captain LeBron James didn’t play the second half and ended the night with eight points, while Stephen Curry put up 16 off the bench alongside Devin Booker‘s 15 points.
What Happened In The 2024 All-Star Game?
Even though the fans have vehemently rejected this year’s All-Star game as well, it was more entertaining than what we saw last year. The West vs. East format did seem to add some spice to the event, but it didn’t last beyond the first few minutes of the game. One of the highlight plays of the night came with LeBron throwing down a thunderous dunk.

Damian Lillard would earn his All-Star Game MVP with some incredible shotmaking, including this half-court three.

Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic were being attacked on social media for their complete lack of effort. Doncic did try pulling out a highlight reel self-lob, but ended up missing which led to Dame’s half-court three.

The West was simply too old to keep up with the athletic and younger East players. The oldest player in the East was Damian Lillard, the only player above the age of 30. The West had three old legends in LeBron, Kevin Durant, and Curry, while also playing Doncic and Jokic who don’t try in All-Star games, and injury-prone stars like Anthony Davis and Kawhi Leonard who played limited minutes.
The player pool in the NBA might be among the most talented in the history of the league, but it’s not translating to the court in the All-Star game. There might not be a solution to this from the league’s eyes outside hoping that players just approach the contest with more competitive spirit in 2025.
