Following the departure of Damian Lillard, some experts believed Giannis Antetokounmpo would request a trade amid rebuilding rumors. However, the Bucks’ President Peter Feigin recently confirmed that the 30-year-old Greek superstar is happy in Milwaukee and indicates that he is still the cornerstone player of the franchise, whom they plan to build around.

“We kind of laugh internally, it’s where we’ve been for 10 years. Giannis loves Milwaukee, Milwaukee loves Giannis. We’re in a good place and we feel great about it. It’s business as usual.”

“I think we get a kind of fun little joy in everybody else thinking they know what’s going on and what the clickbait is, but for us, we’re in a good spot, Giannis is in a good place, enjoying the summer, and we’re looking forward to next season.”

The Greek superstar finished last season ranked third in the race for the Michael Jordan regular season MVP award, behind only Nikola Jokic and the winner, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. He averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 6.5 assists in the 2024-25 regular season but faced a troubling exit in the first round against the Pacers in the Playoffs after Lillard went down with his injury.

It seems that the matchup was also a silver lining for the Bucks, as they seemed to be impressed with Myles Turner so much that they signed him this offseason to add some quality frontcourt depth to the team.

However, after they waived Lillard, the Bucks desperately needed some backcourt depth as Kevin Porter Jr likely moved up to the starting point guard role, which may not be enough to give the Bucks a championship-contending chance.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Feels He Will “Probably” Stay With The Bucks

Giannis Antetokounmpo recently appeared on iShowSpeed’s Twitch stream, where they discussed several sports and spent a good portion of the day together. When iShowSpeed asked Antetokounmpo about his future, Antetokounmpo dropped a major revelation on the Bucks.

IShowSpeed: “L.A., the tax is bad. New York tax is bad. Hell nah.”

Giannis Antetokounmpo: “A lot of people try to convince me, try to convince me to go and play there and stuff.”

IShowSpeed: “So you stay in Milwaukee?”

Giannis Antetokounmpo: “Probably. We’ll see. We’ll see. Probably. I love Milwaukee.”

Even Giannis confirmed that at the moment, he has no plans to leave the team that drafted him. However, according to Shams Charania, if the Bucks don’t give Giannis Antetokounmpo a serious championship-contending roster, then he will likely be open to discussing a future away from Milwaukee.

The Bucks did not make any major moves this offseason except letting Lillard go and bringing Turner to replace Brook Lopez on the roster. But they are nowhere close to being a championship-contending roster just yet. We expect that the Bucks will make a few moves before the beginning of the season to bolster their roster. But will they be enough to make the Bucks a serious contender in the East? Only the future can tell.
