Amid swirling rumors of discontent with the Phoenix Suns, Kevin Durant has emphatically denied any desire to be traded. The speculation, fueled in part by an ESPN report citing frustration within the Suns organization over Bradley Beal’s absence and perceived shortcomings in the supporting cast, prompted Durant to set the record straight.

“I don’t want to get traded,” Durant said. “I’m not frustrated because Brad was injured. I wasn’t frustrated because of the role players on the team. That sh** really was ignorant to me, you know what I’m saying?

“It’s like, yeah, we lose a game – you think I’m supposed to be happy after we lose a game? You know what I’m saying? I’m not frustrated with the whole situation. I may be frustrated at the moment, at a bad play or a tough stretch. But nah, I enjoy the grind.”

Speaking exclusively with FOX Sports after the Suns’ loss to the LA Clippers, Durant vehemently refuted claims of unhappiness and clarified his stance. Durant expressed his frustration with the misinterpretation of certain comments and incidents, emphasizing his desire not to be traded. He dismissed the notion that frustration stemmed from a single game or the team’s performance, emphasizing his commitment to the grind and enjoyment of the process.

Durant is having an exceptional season with MVP-caliber performances as he is averaging 29.6 points  6.4 rebounds and 6.0 assists a game on 52.3 percent shooting from the field and 47.3 percent from beyond the arc. He emphasized his commitment to the Suns despite their challenging start. He acknowledged the team’s struggles as opportunities for growth and expressed a positive outlook on overcoming adversity.

The NBA veteran lamented the persistent association of his name with drama and rumors, emphasizing that he is more than the negative narratives surrounding him. Durant called for a focus on basketball-related discussions rather than unfounded drama, urging reporters to seek clarification directly from him instead of relying on speculations.

In the face of constant scrutiny, Durant remains focused on the game, undeterred by external noise. His frustration lies in being misunderstood, and he implores the media to engage in direct dialogue with him to avoid misrepresentations of his thoughts and feelings. Durant’s impassioned denial serves as a plea for a fair assessment of his contributions to the sport, emphasizing his dedication to basketball and desire for accurate representation.

The Grind Has Not Always Rewarded Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant’s journey in the NBA has been defined by a relentless commitment to the grind, a testament to his greatness as one of the most unstoppable scorers in league history. However, the grind hasn’t always yielded the desired rewards for the basketball maestro.

Durant’s early years with the Oklahoma City Thunder were marked by individual accolades, including four scoring titles and an NBA MVP award in his first nine seasons. Despite these achievements, team success eluded him, with only one NBA Finals appearance that ended in defeat. Despite multiple opportunities, Durant and the Thunder couldn’t secure the championship.

In a historic move, Durant joined the Golden State Warriors, the team that had thwarted the Thunder’s aspirations in the Western Conference Finals. This decision stirred controversy, but Durant embraced the grind with the Warriors, leading the team to two NBA titles, two NBA Finals MVP awards, and three Finals appearances. His impact was undeniable, and had it not been for an injury in the 2019 NBA Finals, a three-peat seemed inevitable.

Afterward, Durant moved to the Brooklyn Nets, forming another superteam with James Harden and Kyrie Irving. Injuries hampered their collective play, limiting them to just 18 games together in a season and a half. Despite the challenges, Durant showcased his resilience, narrowly missing a victory against Milwaukee in the Conference Semifinals with an iconic shot that was just inches away from being a game-winner.

Following a challenging 2021-22 season with the Nets, Durant found himself traded to the Phoenix Suns, where he now forms a potent trio with Devin Booker and Bradley Beal. While Beal’s early injury delayed their collective start, Durant continues to embrace the grind, leaving fans and pundits eager to see where this chapter of his illustrious career will lead.
