Shaquille O’Neal recently unveiled his picks for the most entertaining basketball players in NBA history on an episode of The Big Podcast. Shaq surprised fans by naming four players instead of the expected five when asked by co-host Adam Lefkoe.

“I’m starting off the King, who don’t get enough credit by the way, Dr J. He was the first and then Magic got that ahh. Then Jordan bought that oooh and then after that.. Steph is the best shooter, but then after that, I don’t know.”

First on Shaq’s list was Julius Erving, also known as Dr. J. O’Neal credited Dr. J for bringing flair and showmanship to the game, making him an entertaining player to watch. Dr. J’s high-flying dunks and acrobatic moves left a lasting impact on audiences and inspired a young Shaq to pursue a career in basketball.

Magic Johnson, with his unique style of play and breathtaking passes, secured a spot on Shaq’s list. Magic’s ability to create awe-inspiring plays added a different kind of excitement to the court.

Michael Jordan, widely regarded as one of the greatest players in NBA history, naturally made Shaq’s list. Shaq acknowledged Jordan’s impact, highlighting his athleticism, clutch performances, and highlight-reel dunks, which brought the “ooh” factor to the game.

The final player on Shaq’s list was Stephen Curry, known for revolutionizing the game with his exceptional shooting skills. Shaq hailed Curry as the best shooter in NBA history, emphasizing his ability to make seemingly impossible shots from anywhere on the court.

Interestingly, Shaquille O’Neal stopped at four players, expressing uncertainty about who to choose for the fifth spot. This admission reflects the difficulty of selecting the most entertaining players, even for someone as knowledgeable and passionate about the game as Shaq.

Shaq’s list showcases his appreciation for players who brought a unique style and energy to the game. From Dr. J’s showmanship to Magic’s playmaking, Jordan’s dominance, and Curry’s shooting prowess, these players have left an indelible mark on the sport and continue to captivate fans worldwide.

Shaquille O’Neal Admitted His Partying Habits Cost Him An NBA Title

In a candid revelation on his podcast, “The Big Podcast with Shaq,” NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal openly discussed a regret from his illustrious career, pointing to a specific moment that he believes cost him an NBA championship title with the Orlando Magic.

Reflecting on the 1995 NBA Finals against the Houston Rockets, where the Magic got swept, Shaq took responsibility for the missed opportunity. He attributed the downfall to a lapse in focus and discipline during the 10-day break between defeating the Chicago Bulls and facing the Rockets in the Finals.

After triumphing over the Bulls, a team dominated by Michael Jordan, Shaq, inspired by martial arts movies, saw himself as the student ready to surpass the master. The victory over the Bulls brought a sense of accomplishment, and the team had 10 days off before the Finals.

During this break, Shaq admitted to losing focus, and indulging in parties at his residence, and teammate Dennis Scott’s crib. He recalled renting private jets, including a memorable trip to Atlanta with Scott, spending two days at the famed Magic City strip club. The celebration went on for five days, fueled by the belief that victory over the Rockets was imminent and that Shaq was on the verge of securing his first championship ring.

However, when the Finals arrived, the lack of focus and preparation became evident. Facing his idol, Hakeem Olajuwon, Shaq acknowledged showing too much respect and failing to maintain the necessary intensity. The Houston Rockets ultimately swept the Orlando Magic in the series. Shaq’s honest admission sheds light on the challenges of balancing celebration and maintaining the necessary mindset during critical moments in a championship pursuit.

Had the Magic won the title in 1995, it could have altered the trajectory of Shaq’s career significantly, potentially influencing discussions about his place in the all-time greats and the greatest of all time (GOAT) argument. Shaq’s regret highlights the delicate balance athletes must strike between celebration and focus during pivotal moments in their careers.
