Draymond Green Feels Warriors Are Headed In The Right Direction Despite Blowing 22-Point Lead In Loss To Clippers

The Warriors blew a 22-point lead in their loss to the Clippers on Saturday night, but Draymond Green feels they are headed in the right direction.

The Golden State Warriors blew a 22-point lead en route to a 113-112 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday night. It was the second time in three games that the Warriors had blown a 20+ point lead in a loss, after doing so against the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday, but Draymond Green believes they are headed in the right direction.

“I think we’re headed in the right direction,” Green said. “I think you got to learn how to win too, though. Every year groups are different and each year, that particular group has to learn how to win and that’s tested a bit, especially with the guys we got out.

Green thinks the absence of Chris Paul is a big reason why they’re struggling, but is confident this group will figure it out.

“Especially (Chris Paul) is a key cog in when it comes down to winning time and we got to figure that out,” Green continued. “I have no doubt that we will because we got guys that know how to win. It’s just about putting it together.”

The Warriors certainly have players who have been there and done that, as much of the core from the title-winning team in 2022 is still there. The problem, though, is that they are older and with the exception of Stephen Curry, none of them are playing up to expectations.

This loss to the Clippers dropped them to 9-11 on the season and that record really does reflect how they have played in this campaign. While I do believe that things will get better as the season goes on, this just doesn’t seem like a team that will seriously contend for a title.

Bill Simmons Urged The Warriors To Trade For Pascal Siakam

You ideally don’t want to write off a team with championship pedigree like the Warriors, but it’s hard to see them in action right now and not think some kind of change is needed. For Bill Simmons, that would be making a move for Pascal Siakam.

“And then Siakam take a flier on him if you’re the Warriors, gives you a little more size, changes your team a little bit, gets you out of this Wiggins situation. A nice two for one, Toronto shakes it up a little, they get an asset in Kuminga, maybe they can rejuvenate Wiggins.”

Simmons suggested that the Warriors include Andrew Wiggins and Jonathan Kuminga in the trade. Wiggins has struggled massively this season and a return back home might help him get back on track. As for Kuminga, he’d be a decent young piece for the Raptors’ rebuild. Would this trade put the Warriors over the top, though? I doubt it, but it might be one of the better moves they can make at present.

Draymond Green Had One Of His Best Games Of The Season Here

While Green has been making the headlines for all the wrong reasons this season, he had one of his better games here. He played a big role in the Warriors getting that big lead, hitting four three-pointers in the first quarter.

Draymond cooled off after that but still had a solid stat line of 21 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 block. He ended the night on a sour note, however, missing what would have been the game-winner.

While Curry made the right basketball play considering the double was coming, Green really wasn’t the one you want taking that shot. He had hit those threes earlier in the game but had gone cold since then and you didn’t think he was going to make it here.
