Draymond Green is officially back from his five-game suspension for choking Rudy Gobert but didn’t take long before he fell back into his regular antics. Green flopped while tangling with Kings forward Trey Lyles and continued to lie down as the Warriors ran a four-on-five offense without him. Coach Steve Kerr can be seen yelling at Green to get up instead of begging for a call.
Green didn’t listen to his coach instantly, arguing with referees until he got called for a technical foul. This was the last straw for Kerr, who pulled Green from the game in pretty humiliating fashion for the four-time champion and former Defensive Player of the Year.
The Warriors were up eight points in the fourth quarter when Green did all of this, a game they ultimately lost. Kerr even criticized Green’s actions and believed that swung momentum in Sacramento’s favor.
“I was really disappointed last night that he got the tech, reaction, the foul afterward because the momentum really swung back towards Sacramento.”

The Warriors can’t afford to struggle for much longer, currently sitting as the 11th seed in the West it an 8-10 record. Green’s return was much-anticipated to shore up the Warriors’ leaky defense, but all of Green’s last few games have seen unnecessary incidents that have hurt the team.
Draymond Green Has Consistently Had Incidents In His Last Few Games
The last few times Draymond stepped onto an NBA court, he’s somehow taken attention away from the game for unnecessary on-court escalations. He’s also received technicals in these games, getting ejected in two games, and getting suspended for one of those incidents.
The first happened in a game against the Cavaliers, where Draymond was ejected for an altercation involving Donovan Mitchell and Jarrett Allen. He followed this up with a verbal attraction with Anthony Edwards in a game against the Wolves, but everyone knows that isn’t an altercation many remember involving Draymond and the Wolves.
After his spat with Edwards, the Warriors and Green faced the Wolves in another game where he was ejected in the first minute for putting Rudy Gobert in a chokehold. This incident got him a five-game suspension, which ended before the Warriors faced the Kings. Unfortunately, he came very close to being ejected once again and had to be pulled off the floor by the coach despite being one of the veterans of the franchise.
Green has said he doesn’t regret the headlock and has insisted on staying true to who he is on the court. But when you’re not a winning dynasty, those actions become negative as the team keeps losing. His attitude facilitated championships in his prime, but they’re not doing it now and didn’t do it last season when he punched his teammate in practice.
Kerr is trying to exercise control over his best defender, as seen with the public dressing down and substitution in the last game. However, the team will have to take bigger action to make Green tone his actions down. That attitude is necessary, but it’s cost Golden State more than it’s won this season.
