Bronny James was asked who his favorite player of all time was while doing media for the USC Tigers. After thinking about his answer for a few seconds, Bronny proudly took his father’s name and declared LeBron James his favorite player of all time.

“Favorite player of all time? I’d probably say LeBron James.”

Many people may find it corny, but children grow up looking at their fathers as heroes. Bronny looked up to LeBron in the same way, with millions around the world looking at LeBron as their hero as well. Naturally, his father’s competitiveness and work ethic would rub off on Bronny as he starts his basketball journey as well.

There aren’t many better options ahead of LeBron when you ask a question like this, especially to Bronny. He’s had a loving father do everything he can to help him achieve his dream of making the NBA. Bronny faced a major setback this summer after suffering a cardiac arrest but will continue working to stay on track to enter the 2024 NBA Draft.

Will LeBron James And Bronny James Be Teammates In The NBA?

It’s become clear in the last few years that LeBron is extending his career until he can play with Bronny in the NBA. With a player option on his contract for next season, LeBron has perfectly positioned himself to leave the Lakers at the end of the year and, presumably, sign with whichever team ends up drafting Bronny.

Playing alongside Bronny has been an open desire of James, who has spoken about it repeatedly in the past. He had also tried backing off the statement when he said he wouldn’t mind playing against Bronny in the NBA as long as they get to share the court. He did refer to being teammates with Bronny as the cherry on top, so it’s clear he is eyeing that opportunity feverishly.

The Lakers are on alert as well, not wanting to see their franchise star leave in the summer just to sign a minimum contract with a rival because they drafted Brnny onto their team. The Athletic has reported that the Lakers are already trying to figure out a way to land Bronny and make sure LeBron stays in purple and gold.

“If he declines a $51 million player option, James could be a free agent next summer. The serious health issue that befell his son Bronny over the summer and potentially delayed his entrance into the NBA Draft could be the single biggest factor affecting James’ free agency. He would want to be able to play on the same team as his son if it’s possible, but even if Bronny is in the draft (he intends to play at some point this season as a freshman for USC), most observers believe the Lakers will find a way to make sure that happens in Los Angeles.”

The summer of 2024 will be fascinating as we will see the second generation of the James clan enter the NBA and possibly set the stage for the first father-son duo in NBA history to be playing in the league simultaneously.
