In 77 NBA seasons, only six players have managed to average over 30 points per game in three consecutive campaigns. Anyone can have one great scoring season, but to do it consecutively is a very hard task, and here are the six who managed to do it for at least three seasons in a row.
Wilt Chamberlain:
1959-60 season: 37.6 points per game
1960-61 season: 38.4 points per game
1961-62 season: 50.4 points per game
1962-63 season: 44.8 points per game
1963-64 season: 36.9 points per game
1964-65 season: 34.7 points per game
1965-66 season: 33.5 points per game
Michael Jordan:
1986-87 season: 37.1 points per game
1987-88 season: 35.0 points per game
1988-89 season: 32.5 points per game
1989-90 season: 33.6 points per game
1990-91 season: 31.5 points per game
1991-92 season: 30.1 points per game
1992-93 season: 32.6 points per game
Oscar Robertson:
1963-64 season: 31.4 points per game
1964-65 season: 30.4 points per game
1965-66 season: 31.3 points per game
1966-67 season: 30.5 points per game
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar:
1970-71 season: 31.7 points per game
1971-72 season: 34.8 points per game

Bob McAdoo:

James Harden:
2017-18 season: 30.4 points per game
2018-19 season: 36.1 points per game

Wilt Chamberlain and Michael Jordan were simply on another level, to do that for seven seasons in a row. Oscar Robertson did it for four campaigns in a row, and he actually could have had seven in a row himself but averaged 28.3 points per game in the 1962-63 season.
Bob McAdoo is perhaps a surprising inclusion here, and he never averaged over 30 points per game in any other season in his career. He also did this from his second season in the NBA to his fourth, just as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar did.
James Harden is by far the most recent inclusion here, and it really puts into context just how special those three seasons were from a statistical standpoint. Interestingly, his Philadelphia 76ers teammate could join him on this list next year.
Joel Embiid Has Averaged Over 30 Points Per Game In The Last Two Seasons
Joel Embiid’s stock might be at an all-time low after a disappointing postseason, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that his last two regular seasons have been incredible. He led the league in scoring on both occasions, averaging over 30 points per game.
In the 2021-22 season, Embiid averaged 30.6 points per game, and then in 2022-23, he upped it to 33.1 points per game. Provided he stays healthy, I have no reason to believe he won’t have another dominant scoring season. Would it be over 30 points per game, though? That’s hard to say.
The Players With The Most Scoring Titles
When you average over 30 points per game, there is a good chance you’d have been the scoring champion too. Unsurprisingly, Jordan and Chamberlain find themselves at the top when it comes to scoring titles.
Jordan won 10 scoring titles, which is likely a record that will never be broken, and Wilt is second with seven. The third spot with four scoring titles is shared by Kevin Durant, George Gervin, and Allen Iverson.
Harden, McAdoo, George Mikan, and Neil Johnston are tied for sixth with three each. Embiid can potentially join them too, but he is going to face some very stiff competition.
