  • LeBron James’ scoring record won’t be broken anytime soon, says Byron Scott
  • Scott pointed to James’ insane consistency and durability
  • The former Laker suggested that the scoring record won’t be broken in our lifetime

Forward LeBron James is one of the best players in the world right now, even though he is clearly in the twilight of his career. James is still breaking records even now, and he notably became the all-time leading scorer last season with the Los Angeles Lakers, and he currently has 38,652 total points.

Records are meant to be broken. When Kareem Abdul-Jabbar finished his career with 38,387 points, nobody thought a player would be able to surpass him. Still, LeBron James’ record might not be broken anytime soon. Recently, Byron Scott explained why LeBron James’ will remain the all-time scorer for a long time.

“No, I don’t. And I think that the reason why is the consistency. LeBron has played 20 years in the NBA and has never really been fully hurt and when he gets hurt, he comes right back; he keeps himself in unbelievable condition, he’s going to play another year or so and I think that he’ll get to the point where he’ll have over 40,000 points in this league and I don’t think that it will be broken especially in our lifetime.”

LeBron James broke Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s scoring record BUT Byron Scottt doesn’t see anyone breaking LBJ’s record any time soon: “No I don’t. And I think that the reason why is the consistency. There’s no doubt that consistency and availability are key to a player being able to amass enough points to become the all-time scorer. LeBron James has averaged 71 games per season over the course of his career, and his durability is otherworldly. It is unlikely that a player will be able to play as long as James has with his level of consistent production anytime soon, but anything can happen in the future.

This past season with the Los Angeles Lakers, LeBron James has averaged 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 6.8 assists per game while shooting 50.0% from the field. It is absolutely insane that LeBron James is performing at an All-NBA level at this point in his career, and we’ll see how long he can sustain his production.

LeBron James Is A Good Scorer But Not Necessarily The Best Scorer Ever

Though there are some people who view LeBron James’ scoring ability highly, there are good reasons that James is not the best scorer of all time. His strength is being an all-around player, and his scoring is just one way that James is able to impact the game.

Ultimately, even if he isn’t the best scorer of all time, LeBron James is still the GOAT of this generation. Many believe that he is the best player to ever suit up in the league, though a lot of older fans view that as a ridiculous take.
