  • Patrick Beverley wasn’t a huge fan of the pick-and-choose between Brandon Ingram and Austin Reaves
  • The veteran guard focused on the winning aspect
  • Brandon Ingram has struggled in the two games so far in the 2023 FIBA World Cup

Patrick Beverley is all about winning, and he proved that again when he called out a sports website for their interactive post on whether Austin Reaves should start over Brandon Ingram for Team USA in the ongoing 2023 FIBA World Cup.

Responding to a ClutchPoints post, the Philadelphia 76ers guard didn’t mince his words, saying:

Stop trying to divide. Team is winning. Positivity only. Our National Team is playing well.

At the time of writing, Team USA coasted in both their games against New Zealand and Greece, with Reaves being a reliable contributor off the bench.

In the two games, Ingram started for the side, recording 7 points from 3-of-8 shooting and played a total of 32 minutes, while Reaves had 27 points from 8-of-13 shooting and played 39 minutes across the two contests.

While there is no doubt that Reaves has performed better, it’s too early to write off someone as talented as Ingram, who has been the cornerstone of the New Orleans Pelicans.

And with Team USA expected to clinch the silverware, it is only a matter of time before Ingram shows off his skills and proves critics wrong, despite his early struggles.

Steve Kerr Addresses Brandon Ingram’s Struggles

While Brandon Ingram has been visibly upset with his struggles in the marquee tournament, Team USA head coach Steve Kerr believed it was only a matter of time before the Pelicans star would roar back to form.

“Nothing has really gone his way,” Kerr said, per The Athletic. “He hasn’t had a lot of opportunities, but I think that’ll change. I think his time is coming. He’s just got to stay with it. The thing I’ve learned with FIBA is every night belongs to someone new.”

Kerr added: “I wouldn’t have guessed that Paolo would be our leading scorer last night, but all 12 guys are so talented that all it takes is a couple of shots to go in, and any one of these guys can get going. I expect that to happen for B.I.”

Ingram is a bonafide superstar in his own right, and the thing about good players is that they can’t be kept quiet for long. With that in mind, one can hope that Ingram can get back to the form that eluded him in the first two games.
