  • His usual points, shots, and minutes were significantly reduced, leading to frustration
  • Coach Steve Kerr and teammates believe Ingram’s time to shine will come

As Team USA charges ahead in the FIBA World Cup, one player finds himself grappling with an unexpected challenge – Brandon Ingram. The former All-Star has expressed his frustration with his diminished role on the team, sparking discussions about his adaptability and the team’s overall dynamics.

In an interview with Joey Vardon of The Athletic, Brandon Ingram opened up on his frustrations with the team:

“This is totally different than what I am used to.”

“The team is winning right now, so I can’t be selfish thinking about myself. But it’s a little frustrating right now for me, and I’m just trying to figure out ways I can be effective.”

Ingram, known for his ability to get his own shot and contribute on both ends of the court, has found himself in an unfamiliar position. Throughout his NBA career, he’s been a key offensive force, accustomed to being a focal point.

However, in the international arena, his role has been drastically reduced, leading to an apparent sense of frustration.

Steve Kerr Says Brandon Ingram’s Time Is Coming

The FIBA format, which rewards defensive prowess and differs from the NBA, has presented a challenge for Ingram’s playing style.

USA coach Steve Kerr acknowledges Ingram’s situation and offers a few words of encouragement, “Nothing has really gone his way. He hasn’t had a lot of opportunities, but I think that’ll change.”

While Kerr admits that Ingram has faced limited opportunities, he believes that his time to shine is on the horizon.

Teammates rally around Ingram, expressing confidence in his abilities and assuring him that his contributions will eventually find their place. His fellow players recognize his talents and believe that his potential impact remains untapped within the FIBA World Cup’s unique environment.

Ingram’s frustrations highlight the importance of adaptability in international competitions. The FIBA game places a greater emphasis on defense and often features a different pace compared to the NBA.

Ingram’s struggle to find his rhythm underscores the need for players to adjust their approach to succeed on this grand stage.

Brandon Ingram’s frustration over his limited role on Team USA sheds light on the challenges of adapting to the unique demands of international basketball. As the FIBA World Cup unfolds, his journey serves as a reminder that even accomplished players must be prepared to evolve and thrive in new environments.

The story of Ingram’s resilience and growth underscores the essence of the sport – the ability to overcome challenges and emerge stronger.
