• Bradley Beal has shared an incredible Kobe Bryant story

• Beal claims Kobe would hiss at his teammates to get the ball

• The story shows that ‘Black Mamba’ wasn’t just a nickname, but something Kobe would embody

The stories of Kobe Bryant’s Mamba Mentality often go viral, but what Bradley Beal recently revealed is incredible. While talking to Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson, Beal said he saw Kobe hiss at his teammates whenever he wanted the ball, with all his teammates obliging.

“Y’all heard him hiss before, huh? Like hiss for the ball. It’s my first game playing against him, he’s on the wing. Sasha had the ball, all of a sudden he hisses And all of a sudden the ball was in his hands… I said ‘Oh my god, that’s all you got to do to get the ball?'”

Bryant was the undisputed star of the Lakers after Shaquille O’Neal‘s departure in 2004. Nobody in the Lakers locker room would question what Kobe had to say, as the team was clearly built around him.

He led them to two championships in 2009 and 2010, establishing his legacy as the greatest Lakers of all time.

Former Teammate Matt Barnes Reveals How It Was When Kobe Bryant Hissed

Beal was in conversation with Matt Barnes, who played alongside Kobe for two seasons in 2010-11 and 2011-12. Barnes confirmed that Kobe would hiss at his teammates when he wanted the ball, and if a teammate didn’t follow it up with a pass, Kobe would be displeased.

“It don’t matter how loud the arena is. You’re gonna hear that motherf***ing hiss and the ball better be in his hands in the next 3-5 seconds. If you have the nerve to shoot and miss after he sisses, go back and watch the film of Kobe’s face. He might look at you crazy even if you made it but if you miss, if looks could kill, you’d be struck dead on the court.”

Barnes averaged 7.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.7 assists while playing alongside Kobe on the Lakers, but never won a championship with him.

Kobe Bryant Is The Greatest Laker Ever

When people debate over the greatest Lakers in NBA history, the conversation is usually focused on Kobe Bryant and Magic Johnson. While Johnson was more influential on the overall NBA, Kobe spent 20 seasons with the Lakers and brought home as many titles as Magic. Kobe won everything he set his sights on and is one of the most loved NBA players in the world.

Bryant’s connection with the generations that grew up in the 2000s and 2010s also means a large majority of the NBA fanbase today saw Kobe in his prime, unlike Magic.

Kobe will be honored with a statue outside the Crypto.com Arena, a venue that is affectionately called ‘The House That Kobe Built’ when it was still named the STAPLES Center.
