  • Klay Thompson admits he’s been lucky during his stint with the Warriors
  • Thompson says he has no complaints about his career
  • “I’ll do it over again,” says Thompson on his journey so far

Warriors star Klay Thompson has done more in a single career than some entire teams have over the past 10 years. Sadly, for Klay, everything ground to a halt in the summer of 2019 after tearing his ACL in Game 6 of the Finals.

Despite that moment, and the years following, being a long period of rehab for the 5x All-Star, he insists he would gladly do it all over again, including the good and the bad. “You gotta get a little lucky in this league I’ve learned too,” said Klay on Podcast P. “Like, we’re lucky to still be going for 5. When I say that, I have no complaints. I’ll do it all over again, injuries and all.”

What’s even crazier for Klay is that all of his success thus far has come with the same team, with the same group of guys. That sort of longevity is rare in the NBA and Thomson wouldn’t;t trade it for anything.

“I’m still together with the guys I came in with — Steph and Dray, Andre and Steve. It’s special.”

The latest victor for Klay was in the 2022 NBA Finals when he helped his team win their fourth championship over Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics. We all know what happened to them the next year (this past season), but there is still strong hope out there that the Warriors can win another one before this era is over.

Will Klay Win Another Ring Before Retirement?

At 33 years old with his injury history, it’s fair to say that Thompson’s best days on the court are behind him now. Last season, through 69 games, Thompson shot just 43% from the field and 41% from three. While still pretty solid splits, they are noticeably lower than we’re used to seeing from Thompson, who shoots 45% for his career.

Nevertheless, the Warriors don’t need Klay at full strength to claim another title. So long as they have Stephen Curry, Steve Kerr, and a decent support cast to work with, they have all the tools they need to be successful in the West.

But even if the parades are over for Klay and the crew, he can still look back with pride knowing that his career has been an enormous success.
