  • Austin Reaves has a good relationship with LeBron James
  • Reaves believes James is the GOAT
  • The duo’s connection started on the court due to their play styles

Superstar LeBron James is generally highly regarded by his teammates on all the franchises he has been on. There’s no doubt that this remains the same with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Recently, Austin Reaves opened up on the relationship that he has with LeBron James. Reaves claimed that he believes LeBron James is the GOAT, and added that their relationship extends beyond the basketball court.

“I would start off by saying in my personal opinion, even being a Kobe guy, he is the greatest player to ever play… How good he is at all facets of the game. I don’t think anybody’s been that good at everything… Not even basketball-wise… I can pick up the phone and call him whenever… so that’s super cool… On the court, that’s really where it all started. We connected early on an IQ level, just playing the game the right way.”

"He obviously makes my life so much easier."

There is no doubt that LeBron James and Austin Reaves are a good fit on the basketball court. Austin Reaves is capable of taking on a ballhandling role when James plays off-ball, and is also willing to space the floor for LeBron James as well. It is good to see that they have a good relationship off the court as well.

This season, LeBron James averaged 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 6.8 assists per game. He is still playing at a high level, and hopefully, he continues to do so in the upcoming 2023-24 season.

LeBron James Knew Austin Reaves Would Be A Special Player From Their First Practice Together

There is no doubt that LeBron James has an eye for talented players, and it seems as though he saw something special in Austin Reaves. In fact, LeBron James revealed that he knew from the first practice that Austin Reaves would be a great player.

“I knew from the first practice that he wasn’t going to be a two-way for long … I’ve been around the game long enough to know great basketball IQ players, and I know the type of players that fit with my game, and I knew Austin would be that right away.”

Hopefully, we see the partnership between Austin Reaves and LeBron James continue to develop. They already have good chemistry, and with another offseason, we could see their chemistry improve even further.
