• Dillon Brooks is still using his aggressive defensive antics, even in international games

• Brooks seemingly punched Dennis Schroder in the hand after a shot contest

• Schroder missed the first 13 games of last season due to recovery from thumb surgery

The on-court rivalry between Dillon Brooks and Dennis Schroder has extended from the NBA’s Western Conference Playoffs to games before the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

In the SuperCup Finals between Canada and Germany, Brooks jumped to contest a three-point attempt by Schroder. The now Rockets’ star swung at Schroder’s shooting hand as he came back down from the release, with the now Raptors’ star holding his hand afterward.

The game was one of the best international games of the year, as Canada came back to win the game in OT. Schroder was leading Germany admirably with 26 points, while Brooks ended the game with 8 points.

Dillon Brooks Needs To Move on

We don’t know if this action was because of the squabbles between Brooks and Schroder from last season when both players were on different teams. The Grizzlies and Lakers had some incredible battles in the regular season and the playoffs, with Brooks going out of his way to antagonize players on LA’s roster, primarily LeBron James.

Schroder is incredibly consistent at the FIBA level and was trash-talking Brooks in a friendly game a week ago. On-court trash-talk should never lead to attempts at injuring players, so it’s fair to say Brooks was still in his feelings.

Schroder and Brooks will be in opposite conferences next season, with Schroder playing for the Raptors in the East and Brooks for the Rockets in the West. They will face each other twice next season, and it seems it’ll guarantee some fireworks.
