• Lakers signed Cam Reddish on a one-year minimum contract this summer
• He hopes to provide an instant two-way impact on the franchise
• Reddish has previously played for the Hawks, Knicks, and Blazers
The Los Angeles Lakers did a great job of finding inexpensive players to add to their rotation in the summer, signing players such as Jaxson Hayes, Gabe Vincent, and Taurean Prince while not losing any major contributors.
One of the most exciting signings comes in Cam Reddish, who has had a tough four-season stint in the league to start his career. After a few bad stops in his career, Reddish is hoping to impact the game on both sides of the court for LA.
“I think the ability to do it on both sides of the ball. Bring that energy on defense, then offensively, being able to do a variety of different things… It’s been a ton of fun. We’ve got some guys coming back little by little. So I’m kind of getting to know everybody. I’m just enjoying the process. So far, it’s been good.”

Reddish played only 40 games last season, spending the last few seasons sitting as a healthy scratch on the Hawks and Knicks bench. The Lakers could use a versatile swingman like him off the bench, especially when the team is going through an injury crisis.
In 40 games, Reddish averaged 9.7 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game last season. He’ll hope more opportunities are afforded to him in LA so he can rediscover his potential.
Will Cam Reddish Be In The Rotation?
The Lakers have a deep roster, and it’s clear players will be fighting for rotational spots through training camp and preseason. Darvin Ham often defaults to using players that play with effort and defensive pressure, so Reddish has a good shot at earning a spot in the rotation.
Reddish can either play in the backcourt with a point guard or be a small forward, depending on what the team needs. He likes can play his way into becoming the backup for Austin Reaves.
He’ll have to stay ahead of Max Christie and Jalen-Hood Schifino in the depth charts to make that a reality, so it’ll be exciting to see if he can fight for a rotational spot and finally get to show his talent on a regular basis.
