• The Golden State Warriors are holding open workouts for their remaining roster spots
• Six players will be a part of multiple rounds of workouts for the Warriors to identify which players they need
• Dion Waiter, Harry Giles, Tony Snell, Kent Bazemore, Juan Toscano-Anderson, and Trey Burke will be competing for the spots
The Warriors are trying to revamp their roster this summer after a brutal second-round loss to the Lakers in the 2023 Playoffs. They’ve made encouraging moves already, but need to do a lot more.
The Athletic has shared the Warriors’ plan to put six former NBA players through open workouts to earn the final open spots on their roster.
“The Warriors are holding free-agent workouts with veterans Dion Waiters, Tony Snell, Kent Bazemore, Juan Toscano-Anderson, Harry Giles, and Trey Burke at the facility over the next two weeks, sources tell me and Anthony Slater. GS has multiple rounds of workouts to identify signings.”

This is a very interesting bunch of players, given five of them did not even play in the NBA last season. The only one that did was Juan Toscano-Anderson, who left the Warriors in the summer of 2022 to join the Lakers.
The Warriors have 13 players under contract, leaving two available roster spots for veteran additions. They also have two two-way slots open.
Can The Open Workout List Make The Roster?
The Warriors have chosen a relatively eclectic list of players who won’t be major on-court contributors. The least likely from this bunch is possibly Dion Waiters, who last played meaningful minutes in the NBA in the 2018-19 season for the Miami Heat. He averaged 12.0 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2,8 assists per game that year.
Tony Snell last played in 2020-21 for the Hawks and could be a decent defensive option to have. His offense is non-existent, but that’s a problem the Warriors can deal with.
Harry Giles could be one of the frontrunners for a contract given he seems to be healthy and could provide meaningful center minutes behind Kevon Looney.
Trey Burke was on the 2022 Mavericks’ roster that made the Conference Finals as a bit-part player and averaged 5.1 points and 1.4 assists per game in 21-22 before not getting picked up last season.
Two former Warriors’ on this list are Juan Toscano-Anderson and Kent Bazemore. JTA may be one of the best options for them at this point, given his familiarity with the system and age. Bazemore was very poor in the 2021-22 season with the Lakers, so he’ll have to show his former team he can still contribute.
