Former NBA star Jerry Stackhouse blasted the NCAA in light of the NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) rights that saw rising phenoms like Bronny James and Angel Reese bring in the money.
Bronny’s deals with Nike, Beats by Dre, and other companies have seen him rake in $7.2 million, while Reese had a whopping $14 million NIL deal after she led her team to an NCAA championship. That said, the changing landscape of a players’ future and the future of college sports didn’t sit well with the two-time NBA All-Star.
Speaking to Gilbert Arenas on his Gil’s Arena podcast, Stackhouse lambasted the NCAA calling the scene as a s**t show.
“I like that these guys have been able to make money off their name, image, and likeness. Hell, I wish I could go back retroactively and get some of the money made off of me. But we got a find a way right now, it’s like the wild, wild, west. And these players need to be aware of rogue agents who just want them to test the waters. It’s just a sh*t show right now. But I think ultimately it’ll get settled down“.
