  • Stephen Curry is unquestionably the greatest shooter in NBA history
  • Curry was asked to name the three best shooters in the game today, besides himself
  • There was one somewhat surprising inclusion in Curry’s list

Stephen Curry has helped revolutionize the game of basketball with the three-point shot and is undoubtedly the greatest shooter in NBA history. Every conversation when it comes to ranking the best shooters basically has to start at no. 2, as Curry is well clear of the pack.

The two-time MVP himself was asked recently to name the three best shooters in today’s game, besides himself, and you might sense a little bit of bias in Curry’s list.

“Klay Thompson, Seth Curry, Damian Lillard.”

His Golden State Warriors teammate Klay Thompson and Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard are fairly easy picks here. Klay led the league in three-pointers made last season with 301 and shot 41.2% as well. For his career, Thompson has shot 41.6% from beyond the arc, and he still holds the record for most threes made in a game with 14.

Lillard, meanwhile, doesn’t quite have that efficiency as he takes so many difficult shots. Dame was at 37.1% from three last season, but he did win the three-point contest. When it comes to range, Lillard is probably second only to Curry, and some might even argue he is greater in that regard.

Lastly, we come to Steph’s brother, Seth Curry. While there might be a little bit of bias here, Seth is still lethal from beyond the arc. He shot 40.5% from three last season, and his career average of 43.5% is actually better than even Steph’s (42.8%).

Stephen Curry Gave His Pick For The Greatest Shooter Ever Besides Himself

While Curry here gave his top three among today’s players, he also gave his pick for the greatest shooter ever, besides himself, earlier this year. Steph chose Ray Allen, for his form, dedication to the craft, and his big clutch shots. Before Curry’s emergence, Allen was the one who held the title of greatest shooter ever.

Allen was the all-time leader in threes made with 2,973 on 40.0% shooting before Curry surpassed him in 2021. The nine-time All-Star is now at 3,390 threes, and by the time he’s done, Steph is most probably going to be over 4,000. He is far from being done too, having just averaged 29.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game last season.

Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely. He admired Marion’s finishing ability at the rim and his shooting, despite an unconventional jump shot, believing that Marion’s skill set would have been even more appreciated in today’s NBA.This transformative experience not only deepened his love for basketball but also shaped his approach to sports writing, enabling him to connect with readers through vivid storytelling and insightful analysis.
