• The Los Angeles Lakers will face stiff challenges during the preseason to prepare them for a year of contention
• The Lakers will face the Nets, Kings, Warriors, Bucks, and Suns
• All five of their opponents are playoff teams from last season that’ll look to improve this year
The Los Angeles Lakers finally know who their opponents will be in the run-up to the start of the regular season, as their pre-season schedule has been revealed and features all competitive teams.
Their pre-season opener will take place on October 7 against the Golden State Warriors. They’ll then face the Brooklyn Nets on October 9 before a date with the Kings on October 11. The Lakers will then rematch against the Warriors on October 13 before closing out their slate with the Milwaukee Bucks on October 15 and the Phoenix Suns on October 19.

All of these teams are expected to compete for playoff positions next season, so this is a fantastic slate to go against in the preseason. The game will be against playoff-caliber teams, even though the intensity may not pick up until the regular season begins.
A Lot Of Questions To Answer In Preseason
The one thing we know about the Lakers is that LeBron James and Anthony Davis will be the two primary options. If the playoffs were anything to go by, LeBron may lean on AD to establish himself as the No. 1 so that James in Year 21 could unleash his best self toward the postseason.
Beyond LBJ and AD, there are heaps of questions. The primary one is regarding the lead guard of the team. James may be the playmaker, but he prefers having a guard to run with. D’Angelo Russell is back but didn’t impress in the playoffs, while Austin Reaves took a leap. They’ll likely be the starting backcourt, but one will have more responsibility than the other heading into the season.
How the new additions will fare into the lineup will be interesting to see. Will Gabe Vincent possibly usurp D’Angelo Russell as the starting point guard? Will Taurean Prince continue delivering high-level 3-and-D play off the bench? Can Rui Hachimura become a two-way threat that can average 17.0 points?
The questions are endless, but preseason will illuminate what the pecking order is heading into the 2023-24 season.
