The Los Angeles Lakers are anything but done right now, as they keep making moves to improve their roster ahead of the 2023-24 NBA season. The Purple and Gold are ready to make a splash and go further than they did last season, adding and keeping key pieces to do so.

The latest member of the 2023 roster to re-sign with them is D’Angelo Russell. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the veteran point guard will return to the team after agreeing to a two-year, $37 million deal.

This is big news for both the Lakers and the player. They lived some good moments last season with D’Lo running the offense. However, things didn’t go that well for them in the Western Conference Finals, which rose some questions about Russell’s ability to thrive with this team.

The Lakers were linked with other point guards ahead of free agency, including Kyrie Irving and Fred VanVleet, but as a recent report suggested, they’re running it back with Russell as the starting point guard.

Lakers Added Gabe Vincent To The Backcourt

Moreover, they got a big pick in free agency in Gabe Vincent, who’s leaving the Miami Heat and joining the Lakers on a three-year, $33 million deal. After playing in the 2023 NBA Finals, Vincent is ready to help the Lakers do the same next year.

They also re-signed Rui Hachimura, and the only missing piece now is none other than Austin Reaves. This is a crucial player for the Lakers, and they don’t want to lose him. Many teams will try to lure him away, but the Purple and Gold are ready to match any offer he receives.
