Former Los Angeles Lakers star James Worthy believes that LeBron James could get statues in both Los Angeles and Cleveland.
He did add for good measure that he didn’t know about Miami but believed the four-time NBA champion deserved two statues.
“But I think his overall greatness, when you have a player like LeBron, who breaks Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s [all-time scoring] record in Los Angeles, does it as a Laker, then wins a championship as a Laker, you can’t argue that he could get a statue in Los Angeles. And he could get one in Cleveland as well. So, I don’t know about Miami, but bringing one to Cleveland and Los Angeles, it’s doable, in my opinion.”

That James was an Akron boy and made a name for himself with the Cavaliers, and winning a championship with them makes a solid case for a statue at the Rocket Mortgage Field House.
In his four seasons with the Lakers, he won one championship, and also set up a string of accomplishments while at it, and one of them was surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the leading run-scorer in the history of the NBA.
However, it does make sense if the Heat get a statue of James in their arena as well, given he’s won two championships with the team as part of the famous Big 3 alongside Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.
They won in 2012 against Kevin Durant’s Oklahoma City Thunder and then defeated Tim Duncan’s San Antonio Spurs in 2013. This makes it all the more a perfect case for Miami to honor the legendary player with a statue.
Shaquille O’Neal Explains Why LeBron James Deserves A Statue At The Crypto.Com Arena
Ever since James broke Kareem’s scoring record, fans have wondered if the King will get a statue by the Lakers when he calls time on his career, and fans have debated this on social media. Shaquille O’Neal, who has one, said James deserves to get his statue as well.
“He did win a title with the Lakers and lot of people say that it doesn’t count,” O’Neal told Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson of Bally Sports. “LeBron has broken the record [scoring record] and he broke the record as a Laker.”
Whether the Lakers and the Cavaliers front office decide to install a statue at both their arenas remains to be seen. For now, they have Worthy and Shaq’s vote.
