Kobe Bryant was not someone who would flinch at even the most threatening of opponents, yet he did have one fear although it wasn’t basketball-related.
Speaking to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, the Black Mamba didn’t want to mess with a particular species, and it was bees.
“I don’t f*** with bees, man. Other than that, I’m not afraid of nothing.”
Kobe when asked about 'fear': "I don't f— with bees, man. Other than that, I'm not afraid of nothing."

Well, if anything, Kobe wouldn’t have considered bee-keeping as his retirement plan for sure. Wasps and Hornets surely have more sting, but bees? But hey, one can’t fault the man for having his phobia about it.
So if the opponents wanted to make sure the Black Mamba didn’t play against them all they had to do was release a bunch of bees in the arena. But that didn’t happen, and Kobe did torment them much.
When He Wasn’t Running Away From Bees, Kobe Bryant Was Busy Playing Basketball And Staying Out Of Trouble
Kobe Bryant’s obsession with basketball has been well-documented. But one of the little-known stories was how he used it as an escape to stay away from trouble.
“Playing basketball all day,” Kobe said. “I did my homework and most of the time, because I wanted to play basketball as soon as I got home from school, so I would do my homework during lunch. So when I went home I didn’t have to do it. So, I would just do it real quick, do what I had to in school, then when I go home, I used to play basketball again.”
That obsession meant Kobe was staying out of trouble as a kid, and as he grew up it may not have earned him lots of friends on the court. But he wasn’t complaining about that either, as it paid rich dividends.
Kobe went on to win five championships and two Finals MVPs during his illustrious career, in which he averaged 25.0 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 4.7 APG, 1.4 SPG, and 0.5 BPG. There probably won’t ever be another like the Black Mamba ever in the NBA.
