The 2023 offseason has been dominated by trade rumors regarding some of the biggest stars in the league. In the course of those rumors, many other players have to deal with uncertainty regarding their future. Tyler Herro and Ben Simmons are both in tough situations.

The Nets and Heat are both interested in Damian Lillard trades and both players are likely to get traded in a deal for the star if their team makes a move. Meanwhile, they’re controlling what they can control by working out in the summer together.

There are chances that Herro and Simmons end up as teammates given many of the trades on the table including Herro going to the Nets for assets that Miami could send to Portland in a Lillard trade. Maybe Simmons took a cue from Herro and worked on his offense. Herro averaged 20.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists last season, while Simmons had the worst full season of his career thus far with averages of 6.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 6.1 assists.

Will Tyler Herro Make The Nets A Dangerous Team?

The Brooklyn Nets are already well-placed in terms of the assets they have on the roster. They have plenty of 3-and-D wings that can either be used on a winning franchise or moved for assets. The Nets seem to be sticking with making themselves the winning franchise, and acquiring Herro would revamp their offense which has been running through Mikal Bridges.

Spencer Dinwiddie is not the point guard the Nets will want to have as they return to contention, so an experienced player like Herro makes a lot of sense. He fits their system really well and can set players like Bridges and Dorian Finney-Smith up for success. Even Nicolas Claxton could thrive by having a bonafide guard handling the ball.
