Chris Paul Is Hopeful Of Starting Alongside Stephen Curry And Klay Thompson

Chris Paul will hope to take the floor along with team superstars Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson instead of coming off the bench.

Chris Paul coming off the bench for the Golden State Warriors has been doing the rounds ever since the veteran point guard was traded a few weeks ago.

The Athletic’s Sam Amick, in his latest column, wrote that Paul hoped to start alongside team superstars Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.

“When he pushed back against the idea that he would come off the bench for the Warriors this season during his introductory news conference in Vegas on Sunday, it’s safe to assume that he knew precisely what he was doing. Regardless of what comes next, it’s quite clear that Paul is holding out some hope that there’s a way for him to start (and no, people, not in replacement of Steph Curry and/or Klay Thompson, but with them in a small lineup).”

Earlier, when the question of coming off the bench was posed to Paul, he had a hilarious but sharp retort: “You coaching?”

“I don’t know what the situation is going to be yet. I think that will be for us to figure out once we get going.”

Should the Warriors go small ball, Paul will surely be the starting point guard ensuring that the likes of Curry and Klay have ample shooting opportunities. If he does indeed lead the second unit, it will still be a great learning curve for the Golden State youngsters who will thrive under Paul’s leadership on the floor.

Warriors GM Reveals Why They Traded For Chris Paul

The Warriors pulled a shocker when they traded away Jordan Poole to the Washington Wizards for Chris Paul, and new GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. revealed the why behind the move.

“Felt like adding Chris gives us a chance to get better. Addresses some things for us overall as a team but also gives us some financial flexibility moving forward. Most of all, Jordan, we can’t thank him enough. We don’t have a banner if it weren’t for him. He gave us everything he had for four years, and we really appreciate what he gave us.”

CP3 averaged 13.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 8.9 assists last season, and his injury woes continued, but this time, chances are he will be managed wisely and in spurts to stay healthy for the duration of the Dubs campaign.
