Jay Williams had some intel on Zion Williamson, and it’s not too promising for the young guard who was once labeled as a generational superstar.

Speaking on ESPN, the former NBA star turned analyst dished out the latest on the 22-year-old:

“Zion Williamson loves basketball. I don’t know if Zion Williamson loves the work to put into basketball to be the player we think he can be. That’s what was said to me.”

The New Orleans Pelicans forward has appeared in just 114 games over the course of his four-year NBA career due to injuries. He’s played 30 games in just one season and was limited to 29 games this past season.

Much of his career has been riddled due to injuries, and now the murky controversy with pornstar Moriah Mills a few weeks earlier further dented his already hurt image.

Williams’ take comes on the back of the challenges he outlined trying to stay in shape when talking about Gilbert Arenas on his podcast.

“It’s hard, man,” Williamson said. “I’m 20, 22, have all the money in the world—well, it feels like all the money in the world. It’s hard.

“I’m at that point now, because of certain things, I’m putting back the wisdom around me. I don’t want to say older because they get defensive, but I’m putting people around me with wisdom. Put me on the game to certain things. And just go from there.”

He does look like he has a plan, but can the Zion of the old return? That will be the bigger question on people’s minds.

Nick Wright Believes A Healthy Zion Williamson Is A Top 10 Player In The NBA

Recently, NBA analyst Nick Wright claimed that if healthy, Zion Williamson is undoubtedly a top-10 player

“If we get 70 games of Zion Williamson, he is going to be one of the 10 best players in the league.”

In the 2022-23 regular season, Zion Williamson put up 26.0 PPG, 7.0 RPG, and 4.6 APG for the New Orleans Pelicans, while shooting 60.8% from the field.

He is clearly a solid talent, and hopefully, the world will get to see him on the court more frequently in the upcoming season.
