Christie’s comments come on the back of the 38-year-old’s comments at the ESPYS where he confirmed that he was not even close to considering retirement yet.
“The day I can’t give the game everything on the floor is the day I’ll be done. Lucky for you guys, that day is not today.”
James had a perfect 2022-23 season with the Lakers, averaging 28.9 PPG, 8.3 RPG, and 6.8 APG. While they were swept 4-0 by the Denver Nuggets in the Conference Finals, the team’s latest upgrades and James’ own health still makes them title favorites upcoming season.
Max Christie Has Been Impressive In The Summer League
Max Christie just might get more minutes alongside LeBron James this season, given his own rise in the Summer League.
Through his first two games in Las Vegas, Christie has averaged 16.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and an impressive 3.0 blocks per game. This comes as good news for a young man trying to make his mark with the Lakers.
Christie played 41 games for the Lakers last season and averaged 12.5 minutes per game and tallying 3.1 points and 1.8 rebounds. Now, with these numbers, he surely makes a case for more minutes with the team in the upcoming season.
If he can indeed improve by the game, the Lakers will have unearthed another gem in their drafts. And in-season, it furthers their depth which has been one of their strong points last season.
