Kyrie Irving is one of the best-known NBA players in the world. Whether he’s known for his dazzling dribbling skills or controversial political opinions, Irving always stirs a conversation. At the end of everything, the Mavericks’ star wants to impact his community in a positive manner.
This was seen as Kyrie made unpublicized donations, $25,000 to a fundraiser to rebuild homes in the war-torn Gaza Strip in Palestine and $40,000 to help a resident of Hilton Head Island in South Carolina retain her home under pressure to sell from larger developers.

We have seen Irving take the time to donate money to various charitable causes throughout the season. This included building an orphanage in Ghana amd paying for the funeral and medical expenses after a school shooting. Kyrie is said to have donated over $300,000 on various GoFundMe projects.
With a possible four-year, $210 million contract headed his way (if not a five-year, $272 million contract), it seems Irving will put his wealth to good use by helping more people in need.
Setting The Market Early
If Irving chooses to not re-sign before entertaining offers from competing teams at the start of free agency, it could have ripple effects across the market. As of now, the only cap space team with a reported interest in pursuing Kyrie are the Rockets. But contenders could still look to entice the Mavericks in a sign-and-trade if Irving isn’t re-signing, something that the team has vehemently said they will not do.
With the moves Dallas made in the Draft, it seems they expect Kyrie to stay. They drafted a center in Dereck Lively II and a wing defender in Olivier-Maxence Prosper, addressing their biggest needs.
Last season, they drafted Jaden Hardy, a small scoring guard, foreshadowing the departure of Jalen Brunson in the summer. This season, it seems all moves being made are to surround the Mavs’ backcourt of Luka Doncic and Irving with off-ball players that can defend. Hopefully, their strategy works out and Irving is officially on a new contract to be a Maverick on July 1.
