Chris Paul is officially exiled from Phoenix, and he will have his choice between several NBA franchises this July. As basketball fans across the world debate on CP’s next location, some are looking back to reflect on some of the biggest turning points of his career.
For Paul, the first major move for him was the trade out of New Orleans, which marked the end of the first stage of his career. At the time, nobody knew for sure why Paul was sent packing, but the All-Star himself later revealed that it was the franchise itself that decided to let him go.
“What a lot of people don’t know… When I left, it wasn’t like I’m leaving New Orleans because I want to be out of here. The team was saying that they were moving & going to do this & going in all these other directions.”

Chris Paul’s career has been two-sided. While nobody can deny his greatness as a ball player, his lack of a championship holds his legacy back when compared to his peers.
Paul himself doesn’t care about that stuff, of course, but much of it is out of his control anyway.
“It’s tough but can’t nobody ever be harder on me than I am on myself,” said Paul. “And I feel like I’ve been in every situation there is possible.”

What’s Next For Chris Paul?
Chris Paul is set to be an unrestricted free agent again, and while he is unlikely to earn a pay raise, there are going to be several teams lined up to sign him this summer.
No doubt, Paul goes where he feels he has the best chance to win, but that’s exactly what he thought he teamed with Devin Booker in Phoenix. At his point, Paul is a borderline role player with just a few years left in the NBA.
But even now, after all this time, he’s one of the best there is at making plays and bringing the best out of his teammates. He will find a new team before too long…
