Nikola Jokic is the biggest problem for the Miami Heat in the 2023 NBA Finals. It’s almost impossible to contain the two-time NBA MVP on a nightly basis.

Keeping that in mind, ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne asked Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra about his strategy to stop Jokic. Shelburne wondered if the Heat tried to convert Jokic to a scorer. Spo got furious and went off at her. But it’s all good between the two, as Shelburne revealed that Spo apologized to her via text.

“Erik Spoelstra and I are fine,” Shelburne said. “He watched that clip back and texted me this morning saying, ‘Sorry, I don’t know why I said that.’ It’s fine. In the heat of the moment, after a game like that, when things are intense, people say things, and nothing is personal, especially during this time of the year.”

Those in their feelings about Spo, he texted Ramona & apologized. It was in the heat of the moment. Y’all can move along now πŸ˜’ https://t.co/iXj80sosEU pic.twitter.com/kMUBX32vi8

Spoelstra berated Shelburne for asking a rudimentary question and claimed only an untrained eye could ask such a question.

At the end of the day, it’s great that Spoelstra apologized for his rude behavior. With that out of the way, the veteran head coach is busy preparing his team for the Game 3 showdown in Miami.

Steve Kerr Detailed That The Miami Heat Made Adjustments For Jamal Murray In Game 2

The Miami Heat had a 111-108 win in Game 2 of the series. Nikola Jokic scored 41 points in the losing effort and continued his streak of losing games when he crossed the 40-point mark this postseason. The Nuggets are currently 0-3 in the playoffs.

It’s evident that the Heat didn’t really try to stop Jokic from scoring at will. Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr believes the Heat shifted their focus to Jamal Murray instead.

“He’s [Nikola Jokic] gonna dominate no matter what we do. So we got this guy [Jamal Murray], this is the head of the snake. I think they just decided, ‘Murray is the guy we gotta stop,’ so you start Love, put Jimmy Butler on Murray. And then you saw they were blitzing Murray quite a bit and really tried everything to take him out of the game.”

Murray was held to just 18 points in Game 2 of the series. Had Murray exploded for another brilliant scoring night, the Heat could have found themselves in a 0-2 sinkhole.
