Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler has established himself as one of the premier playoff performers in the NBA today after leading the Heat to an odds-defying run from the eighth seed to the NBA Finals.

Tennis sensation Coco Gauff has revealed an incredible story of Butler asking her if she wanted tickets to the Finals to watch the Heat play, even before the play-in tournament tipped off.

“This was before the Heat were in the playoffs. He offered me tickets to see the last home game of the season and then he DM’d me a couple of weeks later asking if I want more tickets. to see the postseason. I told him I won’t be here, I’ll be in Madrid, Rome, and then France. He said, ‘Okay when we make the Finals, let me know if your family wants some tickets’. This was before we were even in the playoffs before we lost to the Hawks in the first play-in game. Everybody was like we have a 3% chance of making the Finals, but when he sent me that, I knew we were making the Finals because he didn’t say ‘if’ we make the Finals, he said when we make the Finals. Now that the Heat are in the Finals, I can tell that story.”

Butler’s self-confidence is honestly leading to some Michael Jordan-level stories of talking trash and backing it up. Given how nobody saw this Heat run coming, it’s honestly incredible that Butler is living up to so many of the quotes he was mocked for. This includes claiming they’d get their revenge on Boston after their 2022 elimination and an early-season quote of Miami making it to the Finals even after the team had a terrible start to the regular season.

A Historic Finals Run

The Heat are the second eighth seed to make it to the Finals in NBA history, and the only ones to do it in an 82-game season. This accomplishment is honestly incredible, as nobody had pegged the Heat to be able to pull this off when they went up against title favorites in the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round.

The Denver Nuggets will be an extremely intimidating challenge, especially with the chemistry and excellent play they have shown all postseason long. But the Heat are designed to disrupt even the most cogent teams and will hope to make this miracle run into arguably the most impressive championship won since the 2011 Dallas Mavericks.
