The Denver Nuggets are in the NBA Finals after beating the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Finals. One of the reasons that the Nuggets managed to sweep the Lakers was Jamal Murray, who had a spectacular series against the Lakers.
There have been some people who have compared Jamal Murray to Kobe Bryant. It seems as though the Nuggets’ point guard agrees with those comparisons, noting that they have “the same confidence”.
“I agree. I think we both have the same confidence and we both have the same belief in our work. The work he puts in, he doesn’t doubt it… Same with me… We carry the same kind of attributes.”

It is clear that it takes a lot of work to become an elite shot creator like Jamal Murray, and it is easy to see why he is confident in his abilities. Kobe Bryant was similar in the sense that he was able to get his shot off from anywhere and had supreme confidence. Of course, Jamal Murray has to accomplish more to truly be viewed in the same light as Kobe Bryant.
In the playoffs this season, Jamal Murray has averaged 27.7 PPG, 5.5 RPG, and 6.1 APG for the Denver Nuggets. Hopefully, his elite performances continue, and we’ll see what ends up happening in the future.
Kobe Bryant Had A Reputation For Taking A Lot Of Tough Shots
There is no doubt that Kobe Bryant was well-known in the league for being able to take and make tough shots, even when there were multiple defenders guarding him. Previously, Ray Allen opened up on what it was like to guard Kobe Bryant.
“He took a lot of tough shots. It was my job to keep making him continue taking shots. If he’s taking tough shots, I am happy with it, he’s gonna make some of them, and that’s fine. When he’s taking shots under duress or with fatigue, then I did my job. Some guys in the NBA and Kobe was one of them, it’s impossible to keep him from taking those shots and not missing. It was a task for me but I tried to get him as tired as much I could because he was guarding me as well.”
This strategy from Ray Allen when it comes to guarding Kobe Bryant makes sense, and the goal with most superstars is to tire them out and make things tough on them, as it is tough to truly stop them. Kobe Bryant was one of a kind, but it is clear that many players in the league today took inspiration from him.
