Jamal Murray is having a sweet moment in the 2023 NBA Playoffs, leading the Denver Nuggets alongside Nikola Jokic, beating rival after rival to make it to the Western Conference Finals.

After taking over in Game 2 of this year’s WCF, the point guard made it clear that he’s here to stay and asked people to give him his due respect.

“I don’t think I get enough respect as I should be,” Murray told Andscape on Thursday night. “I’m better than a lot of players in the league. Every time I see rankings of guys I think, ‘Man, that is crazy.’ Maybe it’s because I have been out for so long. But if we win the chip, it changes everything.”

Murray is going off on the Los Angeles Lakers, dropping 68 points in the first two games of the series. Nikola Jokic is playing at the best level again, but Murray has been the X-factor in this duel.

He unlocked his power in the 4th quarter of this game, dropping 23 to propel the Nuggets to a big win. The Lakers held him back until the final period and once he took off, Murray never looked back.

Murray Led The Nuggets’ Second Win Against The Lakers

The player has been on a tear recently, and he doesn’t shy away from the big moments. He’s embraced those matchups and no matter who is in front of him, Murray will be ready to respond. Everybody is in awe of him, and teammate Michael Porter Jr. supported Murray, saying he’s one of the best players in the league.

“He is definitely one of the best guards in the league,” Michael Porter Jr. told Andscape. “He has not been named an All-Star yet, but he is one of the best players in The Association. The Association is about getting buckets. He can hit tough shots down the stretch with the best of them. He is showing up with playoffs, obviously.

“People thought that [the] NBA Bubble run [in 2020] was a fluke. But I told him I think he is better now than he was back then. He sees the game better. So, I’m happy for him.”

Murray has apparently taken things personally against the Lakers, even calling out the media for pushing a favorable narrative for the Purple and Gold. He’s been waiting for these moments and now that the opportunity is here, Murray is leaving everything on the court.
