Chris Paul might be looking at a Houston Rockets return, according to the latest intel in the NBA world.
The Athletic’s Kelly Iko wrote that Paul might be one of the players on the Rockets’ radar if their plan to acquire James Harden falls through. This comes on the back of speculations that Paul could be exiting the Phoenix Suns this summer.
Earlier, it was reported that the Suns were looking at deals that would put the point guard on the trade market, and now, a Houston reunion looks to be on the cards.
It makes sense for Paul to head back to Houston, considering that he can be a veteran presence in a young side. At 38, he is on his last legs and could have a major impact in molding a young Rockets side.
It’s been an injury-riddled run for Paul over the last couple of seasons. This time, he played 59 games for the Suns, averaging 13.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 8.9 assists. With the Suns looking to deal Deandre Ayton as well, chances are that they may consider trading Paul too, and another big name in Phoenix alongside Kevin Durant and Devin Booker.

Paul had a rather cryptic message when asked about his future with the Suns. Speaking to the media in the aftermath of the playoff ouster at the hands of the Denver Nuggets, the veteran said:
“My contract is not up,” Paul said. “But unfortunately I’m not the GM or anything like that. So we’ll see.”
The Suns were looked at as legitimate title contenders with the addition of Durant, but they fell short of expectations in the end, and there have been changes rung in already.
Such was the impact of their losses that fans were critical of Booker and Durant for disappearing in the game that mattered most. Chances are that they run it back one more season, but will they risk it with an aging Paul? Only time will tell.
