Kobe Bryant was not one to back down from a challenge during his playing days. If you talked trash to Kobe, you were likely going to end up on the losing end of the game.

This was exactly what happened to rapper Bow Wow. Yes, the Like Mike movie star himself. These two stars played a game of 1-on-1 basketball back in 2011.

The reason behind the game was because of a tweet sent out by Bow Wow. Of course, Kobe doesn’t forget when someone says something negative against him, and you know he was waiting for the day to get Bow Wow on the basketball court.

So, what was exactly said by Bow Wow? What was the reason these two were together? Stick around, and you’ll find the answer to these questions.

Kobe Destroys Bow Wow In 1-On-1 Games

It was the summer of 2011, and the NBA was in the middle of a nasty lockout. This lockout lasted for 161 days, from July 1, 2011, to December 8, 2011.

During this time, NBA players were trying to stay busy and in shape since they couldn’t play basketball in the NBA. Many players were playing in pickup games and other leagues.

Some players held basketball clinics. This includes Kobe Bryant, who had his Kobe Bryant Basketball Academy. Bow Wow was at Kobe’s academy, and Kobe remembered Bow Wow’s tweet from 2010, just before Christmas.

Kobe is average. Every xmas game @KingJames go off against him. Tell james worthy come out the announcers booth and suit up yall gone needem

Kobe is average. Every xmas game @KingJames go off against him. Tell james worthy come out the announcers booth and suit up yall gone needem

As you can see by Bow Wow’s tweet, Kobe was right to take offense, and inviting Bow Wow to his academy was certainly his way of getting revenge.

First Kobe would play Bow Wow’s friend and spot him 10 points in a game to 11. Kobe would, of course, come back and easily win 11-10.

Next up, it was Bow Wow’s turn. Kobe would spot the rapper 10 points, like he did his friend. Like his friend, Bow Wow would have no chance at a victory.

Kobe used his size and strength to punish the young rapper inside. Kobe backed Bow Wow down repeatedly and hit layup after layup on Bow Wow while talking trash the entire way.

Bow Wow attempted to stop Kobe on his last possession by fouling him and grabbing his shirt, but it didn’t work. Kobe eventually ended the game with a dunk.

After the game, Bow Wow wanted to run it back, but this time, he wanted to change the rules. Bow Wow wanted to only allow jump shots in the next 1-on-1 game. This would take away Kobe’s height advantage around the rim.

Kobe agreed, but this new rule wasn’t going to stop Kobe from using his size advantage. To make things more interesting, Bow Wow wanted to play for $1,000, and once again, Kobe agreed.

So, with a 10-point spotted advantage, could Bow Wow win on just one shot? No chance.

Kobe backed Bow Wow down and continually hit his patented fadeaway jumper. He also swarmed Bow Wow on defense, showing Bow Wow why he was a 5x NBA champion.

Kobe destroyed Bow Wow, beating him 11-10, leaving Bow Wow to fall on the floor in an exhausted state. After getting the $1,000 from Bow Wow, all in cash, by the way, Kobe did something incredible with the money.

Kobe gave the money to his campers. This gesture was incredible by Kobe, but that’s what you expected from such a class act like Kobe Bryant.

These are the stories we, as Kobe fans and NBA fans in general, love to hear about Kobe Bryant. Kobe was such a competitor who also loved to joke around and have a good time. This all comes together in the video of his 1-on-1 matchups with rapper Bow Wow.
