News broke recently that the Philadelphia 76ers had fired Doc Rivers and a lot of people have quite a bit to say about it. Rivers was Head Coach of the Sixers for three years, but lack of playoff success meant that his days were always numbered.
There was a lot of blame to go around after the Sixers lost against the Celtics. Joel Embiid and James Harden were both given their fair share of criticism. And while Rivers has now paid the price, fans’ reactions to the news show that they know he wasn’t the only problem.
Easy scapegoat for the Sixers, but firing Doc won’t solve any of their problems https://t.co/y3qm8LYzOq

There were a lot of rumors after the loss that James Harden didn’t like Doc Rivers. And one fan mentioned that as a potential factor in the coach losing his job.

In the previous two years under Rivers, the Sixers had failed to make it past the Conference Semifinals. With the roster deeper than ever this season, the expectation was that they would finally be able to break that barrier and go to the next level. They failed to do it, and as such, the firing didn’t come as a surprise to some.
No surprise. Doc was coaching for his job against Boston https://t.co/7JuNUfAm7d

While plenty of people pointed the finger at Doc Rivers, some are supporting him as well. Joel Embiid and James Harden were both horrific in Game 7 against the Celtics, and one fan, in particular, thinks the players need to take responsibility.

And while a lot of reactions are about the Sixers, one fan, in particular, doesn’t have very high hopes for what comes next for Doc.
Looks like this man might have finally coached his last game in the NBA. Can’t see him getting hired again…… https://t.co/3F9g6BeXI4

There Are A Lot Of NBA Head Coaching Vacancies Rivers Could Be Eligible For
A lot of NBA teams have fired their coaches recently, and as such, Rivers could find himself in a job quite quickly. The Milwaukee Bucks, Phoenix Suns, Toronto Raptors, and Detroit Pistons all currently have openings, and a winning coach like Rivers will be a candidate for most of those jobs.
His recent playoff record may prove to be a hindrance, but for teams that are still rebuilding, like the Pistons and potentially the Raptors, he could prove to be an astute hire.
As for the Sixers, Adrian Wojnarowski named Mike D’Antoni, Nick Nurse, and Mike Budenholzer as potential candidates to replace Rivers. There seems to be a coaching carousel in the NBA at this time, and it will be interesting to see what the picture looks like once the dust settles.
