Draymond Green’s tenure with the Golden State Warriors has been a massive success but it might be coming to an end this year.

Green has a player option worth $27.6 million for next season and should he opt out, he’ll get to test free agency. He recently revealed on The Draymond Green Show that he will reveal his decision at some point on the podcast.

“My future with the Warriors, obviously I have a player option,” Green said. “My agent is Mr. Richard Paul. He is the best in the business. I said all of that to say, we have not had the opportunity yet to sit down and discuss any future things… I want to be here. I’ve been here 11 years. You don’t just throw that away and quite frankly I think we still have more championships that we can and will win. But also, I understand that this is a business… When I do have a decision, you will know it here first. How about that?”

Dray could opt out of the last year of his contract ($27.6M).

Green had stated after the Warriors lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in six games that he wants to be a Warrior for life. It would appear his preference certainly is to stay with Golden State as he also believes the dynasty isn’t dead just yet. For his part, Draymond had a solid season, finishing with averages of 8.5 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 6.8 APG, 1.0 SPG, and 0.8 APG. He was great on the defensive end and showed he still has gas left in the tank.

The Warriors Are Reportedly Going To Offer Green A Multi-Year Deal

While Green tends to be the butt of jokes for the triple-singles, he provides great value to the Warriors with his defense and playmaking. They realize that too, with team insider Anthony Slater reporting that Golden State will discuss a multi-year extension with Draymond this summer.

Should he hit the open market, Slater says there would be multiple playoff-contending teams in pursuit of Green if he tests free agency, so he has leverage. It will be interesting to see how this situation pans out with the only thing we know for certain being that Draymond will announce it himself on the podcast.
