James Harden Has Cold Response To His Relationship With Doc Rivers

James Harden didn't look so happy when asked about his current relationship with head coach Doc Rivers.

The Philadelphia 76ers suffered a big loss on Sunday afternoon, getting absolutely destroyed by the Boston Celtics in Game 7 of their second-round series. Once again, Joel Embiid and James Harden failed to show up, which raised many eyebrows around Sixers Nation.

Doc Rivers also caught fire following this painful elimination and Harden had a brief and cold response when discussing his relationship with the veteran coach.

“Our relationship is okay,” the Beard said before stopping to think for a second.

Of course, such a short answer doesn’t please anybody and it raised many doubts about the player and his coach instead. They’ve been together for a season and a half, and up until this point, nothing was said about a rift between them.

However, after yet another blown 3-2 lead by Rivers, things might have changed. Harden wanted to make a deep playoff run this season, and he’s well aware that he disappeared when his team needed him the most, so the blame isn’t for Rivers alone.

Joel Embiid called out his teammates after the game, unlike Harden, who held himself accountable after another collapse.

James Harden Could Go Back To Houston

It seems like this can be the end of this partnership, as the Beard has been mentioned as a serious candidate to join the Houston Rockets this summer. These rumors have been making the rounds around the NBA for several months now. The Rockets have a new ambitious project led by Ime Udoka that could change everything for them.

Besides Harden, they have reportedly set their sights on Jaylen Brown and Khris Middleton. This team is ready to make a splash next season, and if they land a veteran to lead their young core, the Rockets could be a threat in the West again.

Harden showed flashes of his best version during this playoff run, but it’s time for him to embrace a new role and let others carry the bigger load.
