Draymond Green Reveals Warriors’ Mindset Heading Into Must-Win Game 5

Facing a 3-2 series deficit, the Warriors are on the verge of going home for the first time since Game 7 of the first round. While this group has been in situations like this before, there’s something very different about this latest hurdle.

Through 4 games, the Dubs have been decimated by the Lakers, who have looked like the deeper, smarter, and stronger team for most of the series. But even with their backs against the wall, Draymond Green says his team isn’t stressing about the path ahead. Instead, the Warriors will take it just one game at a time.

“I think that every game that you win from this point on flips the pressure to the other team,” Draymond said. “Every game won in this series flips the pressure to the other team. I don’t care if it’s Game 1, I don’t care if it’s Game 6. The only time that the pressure doesn’t flip to the other team is when you win Game 7. Once Game 7 is won, that team goes home and you move on. So for us, the goal is to win one game. We’ve been here before and we know what it takes. The goal is to win one game. You win one game, the pressure flips and you go back to Crypto 3-2, essentially puts them in a must-win situation. Nobody wants to go on the road for a Game 7. Must-win situations are a little bit different than any other game.”

The Warriors were able to come back from down 3-1 against the OKC Thunder in 2016 and it was a truly impressive display of revolve and determination from the then-defending champs.

So with the combined strength of Steph, Klay, and Draymond, who is to say that they can’t do it again and come roaring back? It’s impossible to count them out completely, of course, but LeBron James is going to make it hard for them to win these next three games.

Is This The Last Game Of The Season For Golden State?

Back in Chase Center for Game 5, we can expect a huge performance from the Dubs and the crowd is going to bring more than their usual intensity for this must-win situation. If the Warriors lose tonight, it would be a bitter end to the season that will surely draw some questions about the future of the dynasty.

But if they win, it puts all the pressure on the Lakers to deliver at home for Game 6, or they will have to play for their season on the Warriors’ ground.
