Nikola Jokic put in a performance for the ages in Game 4 against the Phoenix Suns, finishing with 53 points, 4 rebounds, 11 assists, and a block.
Magic Johnson, just like so many, was in awe of Jokic’s incredible display but he didn’t like the other major talking point from the game, the Serbian elbowing Suns owner Mat Ishbia.
“Jokic, I enjoyed your performance, but I didn’t appreciate the elbow to my fellow Spartan and Suns Owner Mat Ishbia lol.”

Magic, of course, made a name for himself at Michigan State where he won a national championship in 1979 and Ishbia also played for the college from 1999 to 2002. While Ishbia was hardly the star that Magic was, he too ended up winning the national championship in 2000. It isn’t a surprise that Magic is siding with Ishbia here considering their connection, but the Suns owner has been heavily criticized for his actions.
The Nuggets Were Not Happy With Mat Ishbia
Devin Booker brushed aside the incident by hilariously saying Ishbia did his job by getting them a free throw, as Jokic was given a technical foul for the incident. The Denver Nuggets certainly didn’t find it all that funny, with Jokic saying he believes Ishbia should have been kicked out for influencing the game by holding on to the ball. Nuggets head coach Michael Malone was furious that the Serbian was given a technical, as he too blamed Ishbia for the incident.
Patrick Beverley also chimed in and sided with Jokic, as he wants the players to be protected. There was some talk of Jokic potentially being suspended for this, but hopefully, nothing of that sort happens. It is a shame that the incident somewhat overshadowed the game, as it was truly incredible. The Suns seemed dead and buried after losing the first two games of this series but they have now leveled things up and the pressure has now shifted to the Nuggets. Here’s hoping for another spectacular contest in Game 5.
