Shaquille O’Neal Brings Back Iconic Meme While Talking About Devin Booker: “I’m Sorry, I Owe You An Apology.”

Devin Booker continued his incredibly strong run of games in Game 4 with 36 points and 12 assists performance to help the Suns to a win.

Shaquille O’Neal thought Booker couldn’t replicate his Game 3 heroics and score that efficiently in a win again. Now that he has done that, O’Neal hilariously apologized to Booker.

“Devin Booker, I’m sorry, I owe you an apology. I got on TV and said you won’t go 20-25 again, you messed around and went 14-18. So, sir, I apologize and I love the way you’re playing.”

The last time Shaq apologized to a player like this was when to Christian Wood during his Rockets’ tenure. It spawned a meme that has transcended NBA Twitter, as Shaq’s quote ‘I’m sorry, I wasn’t familiar with your game.’ went super viral. This quote may not have the same impact, but it’s good to see Shaq know what’s provocative and gets the people going.

The Best Player In The 2023 Playoffs?

Devin Booker may just be the best player in the playoffs so far. Even though Nikola Jokic has been incredible and just had a 50-point game, Booker’s scoring is bordering on historic. He has averaged 36.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 7.4 assists on 61.7% from the field and 51.0% from three in the playoffs and it doesn’t look like he’s slowing down.

Other candidates in the conversation haven’t shown the same consistency as Booker has. Anthony Davis will dominate only in alternate games, Joel Embiid has been inconsistent and dealing with an injury, Stephen Curry isn’t scoring at the high volume we saw him do in the first round, and Jayson Tatum has been mocked endlessly for his no-shows in crucial games.

The conversation comes down to Booker or Jimmy Butler. Butler’s accomplishments definitely are of a much higher magnitude, but they aren’t as number-heavy as Booker’s. Jimmy is averaging 34.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 4.4 assists in this Cinderella playoff run for the Heat. Fans can decide who’s the best, but Booker has objectively been sensational after the catastrophic failure he faced last season.
