Ever since he left the Philadelphia 76ers and went to the Miami Heat, Jimmy Butler found his place in this world. After many years of struggling with the Chicago Bulls and Minnesota Timberwolves and his failed stint with the Sixers, he joined the Heat via sign-and-trade.
Udonis Haslem talked about the relationship between Butler and the Heat, explaining how easy it was for the forward to mesh with the Heat (1:37:00 mark).
“I had got a chance to go out to dinner with Jimmy with D-Wade and just getting a chance to understand Jimmy. The first thing people think about Jimmy is: ‘he listens to country music, he must be weird.’ Ain’t nothing weird about Jimmy.”
“If you get a chance to sit down and chop it up with Jimmy, you understand Jimmy, you know where he comes from. Jimmy just keeps everything close to him. He ain’t wide open with his friendships, he ain’t got a lot of friends, he ain’t running his mouth out there telling all his business. I respect that and I appreciate that. Like I tell people all the time, if you put a dog outside, he gonna go around and go in your trash can, tear your yard open up and you’re gonna come out in the morning and your sh*t is gonna be in shambles. You put it in the kennel with other dogs, he’s gonna make a pack and that’s what he did. He came down here with us and he made a pack.”
Haslem is one of the most respected players in the NBA, and he saying all these good things about Butler only confirms that the player is really great on and off the floor. This happened two years ago, and Butler only kept doing good things for the Heat.
They played in the 2020 NBA Finals and made it to the 2022 Eastern Conference Finals. Butler has become the leader of this team, and he’s trying to achieve something similar in this campaign.
He lived through troubling things during his childhood, but now Jimmy is past all of that, ready to lead the Heat to glory.
Jimmy Butler Is Having An Incredible Postseason
Butler had a magical first round against the Milwaukee Bucks, taking them out of the playoffs. Jimmy Buckets closed out the series with 56 and 42 points, respectively. The Bucks didn’t have an answer for him, and now he’s trying to do the same against the New York Knicks.
Butler and the Heat could make history this postseason. They’re tied 1-1 in the second round of the playoffs, and Butler is injured. If he returns for the Miami games, the Knicks will be in trouble. Jimmy B is the scoring leader of the postseason, averaging 35.5 points per game. He’s grabbed 6.8 rebounds and dished 4.7 assists in six games played this postseason.
